This game rewards exploration, and not in a patronising way. You feel valued for your inquisition, which is something so few games do, and an even lesser amount right. From exploring the physical world to solving puzzles in whatever way you want. That's what sucked me into BotW, and its incredible soundtrack kept me there. Its just a masterpiece through and through.

You have to change your perspective on video games. Nothing is consistent in Botw, and that is exactly the point. It quite literally sows creativity. You are intended to feel like a person alone in a strange new wilderness. You cant rely on any one thing in particular. You have to live in the moment. Its very Zen, in the literal sense.

I have loved the open world genre since I first played GTA3 but I had never finished one of them... Too overly long and I would finally just lose interest and end up making my own fun. I have bought every console Zelda since the Super NES and have never finished one of them... only playing a few hours which made me realise I respect Zelda but it isn't for me.... HOWEVER, Breath of the Wild is the greatest open world game I have ever played and still remains the only Zelda game that I have finished. Its the best argument in the games as art debate, and one of the greatest games ever created.

First play through of this game is legendary. Second doesn't recapture that same magic, but I think that's the point... The game is all about discovery and experimentation so once you've gone through that process for 50-100 hours, starting from scratch when you've already figured it all out clashes with the design intention.

This video got me thinking about how BoTW could be brought into true VR, and especially how the paraglider functionality would work. It would be terrible in VR, so my best idea was to replace it somehow with another feature. hmmmmmm. Climbing would be very fun, and stamina usage would be defined by how long the player held a spot and how many times they used a hand.

Man, you articulated this _perfectly._ Nintendo absolutely knocked it out of the park with BoTW. And your video production is excellent. Subbed.

Chris. I mean, CView. Who the heck is Chris? Anyway. Chris, tbh …….. I haven’t watched it yet. this video is most likely AMAZING. Which is why I saved it to my watch later playlist. Only video I’ve ever saved to that playlist 100% fact. As I’m writing this comment I notice Mario with a hat in the video. CANT WAIT.

This week, after 2 years or +-500 hours, I made 100% of my journey. Of course I still have so many things to do in Hyrule, but the essential is made. Sorry if my english is so poor, but im from Brasil and I speak portuguese.

I love and I played this game so much that I keep asking myself weird things like why can' Link just eat sticks of goat butter. The only thing that kept BotW from being pretty much the perfect game for me was Master Mode being phoned in, it didn't need enemy HP regen or inflated health pools, just harder hitting enemies and a more concrete experience like no inventory healing/buffing/equipping while climbing or flying, and maybe keep eating cooked foods to when Link is either in towns or near camp fires. Master Mode to me is the single wine stain in this perfect linen of a game. Played this for over 500 hours and I think that it's an absolute masterpiece albeit its flaws. Really looking forward to what Nintendo will be presenting in the sequel.
