The scene gets even sadder after you read the king’s journal which explained that in the last moments before calamity ganon awakened, he realized he was treating Zelda wrong and was over pressuring her and talked about how he wanted to allow Zelda to have fun with her interest in guardian tech once she came back from the spring of wisdom buy sadly it was too late and he got killed before he could even let Zelda know about it

Okay but you can see Link sink down a bit when Zelda closes her fist and mentions the spring of courage. *Something* happened while they were there and he’s trying to hide how he feels about it by keeping his face hidden. And after the King departs you can very slightly see him relax and lift his head a little. It’s very subtle but I don’t think that’s an accident considering the fact that they focused on him and Zelda’s fist when she mentions the spring. My bet is that she prayed until it was physically and emotionally impossible to continue. And that’s why Link tenses up and drops his head just slightly to hide his concern for her. And further, the King didn’t come out and see Zelda looking at the Guardians. He came out right when she was smiling at Link. He wasn’t asking why she was looking at the guardians. He was asking why she was making casual conversation with her body guard and why Link allowed her to go to her study when she should have been praying. Link knew she had to pray but clearly he felt that her happiness was far more important and allowed her to go to her study to do research instead. Which for one, is totally support for Zelink, and two, reveals quite a bit about Link’s character in my opinion.
@thelordofpapasquid8016 Жыл бұрын
That is some nice observation there. I feel that this is further supported by Link’s adventure log in Japanese. In one of the entries Link states he wants to see Zelda’s smile again. He cares very deeply for Zelda.

Some father he is. Zelda has dedicated her entire being into her role in destroying Ganon. She understands her responsibilities better than anyone and she has never once forgotten her duty. As her father, he should be encouraging and supportive to his child, who clearly feels inadequate and useless due to her lack of power. Instead, he throws her failure back in her face and insults her. I get it; your kingdom is in danger, but that doesn't give him the right to speak to a 16 year old girl in such a harsh manner. She's trying, dude. I'm perfectly aware of the guilt that Rhoam feels afterwards and his regrets, but folks should take this situation as a reminder to treat the people in your life with love and respect. Life isn't promised to anyone and no one should die with regrets.

@@gregsretromusicchannel7000 Seen it before and it doesn't change the facts that King Rhoam failed to realize that the problem with Zelda not manifesting her power wasn't strict training. It required something else that takes not only action but have a genuine love for the people she cared about. Zelda was so stressed and trying so hard to commit to everything she did, that it became her obstacle of accomplishing her goal to unleash her power. Her insecurities got in her way for every time she committed to her training and failed to the point she forgotten a crucial thing that she wasn't seeing because all pressures were on her, to which the King also applied that pressure. Some things in life you can't force, even in the event of potential doom for your country. If the event in discussion was something Kings can handle by their own strength then, yeah King Rhoam would take action alongside his people. This is something that hindge on the hope of two things: The Master Sword that only the courageous of hero may wield and the Sacred Power only specific females named after Zelda can wield, to face Calamity Ganon. The king was too strict to not see that there can be other factors that had they approach things differently, they wouldn't have gotten demolished and at least held down long enough for Zelda to find her moment to literally shine, as was shown in Hyrule Warriors: Age of Calamity.

@@RedGuardianRG92 while I don't agree with what was said above, I didn't care much for Rhoam either, yes he was doing what HE believed was for the best but in truth what he was doing is what I believe was the most toxic outcome. It's stated numerous times by other npcs (Riju, Sidon and his father, and Teba and the rito elder) that it was Zelda's research that pointed out the divine beasts weakness. She was the one doing everything for ten long years of trying to awaken a power that I just don't think could happen with constant prayer, The day the calamity happened was also her seventh birthday, the age she herself started was when hylians were considered adults, I think that whether or not the calamity happened that her powers could have awoken that day regardless. HE wasn't the one who would make pilgrimages all across the continent, praying at springs for hours just to be forced out by you're godmother when you refused to leave because she didn't want to be a failure. He didn't find himself running high fevers from standing in said fringed waters, HE didn't have to worry about a ninja cult trying to kill him at every corner. Instead he chose to be the stirn commanding kingtm rather than the father. his. daughter. NEDDED. And by the time he realized that it was literally to late, and it took him dying to finally understand that zelda was right since while he was a spirit he discovered the existence of the Sheikah Monks and Spirit Orbs they held which where meant to test and prepare the Hero to confront the Calamity. Apparently realizing his folly in not permitting Zelda to research as it was her and Purah's discovery that the Shrine of Resurrection was a medical facility that ultimately saved Link's life.
