This song is such the anthem in my mind for my older son and his age cohort. You give birth to a sweet baby boy in 1986, never dreaming young people will be sent when he comes to fight rich men's wars, yet again, this time in Iraq and Afghanistan. Many of my son's friends joined the military after graduation and served. This is a beautiful, unique, in-between generation, who have their lives together astoundingly well. God bless, you mid-eighties babies, from a mom who thinks y'all are wonderful. 🤗♥️🙏

I would look up the karaoke for this and just sing it all the freaking time. I didn't really realize what it was about until I got older though...it's a pretty relatable song. Take like one day at a time and have faith.. that's the only way you're gonna get through it.

I think it's a song for everyone suffering. There is a strong reference to abortion in the first verse, PTSD or mental illness in the second verse, and coping with suicidal thoughts in the last verse. This is one of those Masterpieces where everything makes sense and nothing makes sense. It's written and sung so beautifully and understandingly that we can apply it in basically all of life's ups and downs.
@dustywhite6963 Жыл бұрын
I hope there isn't a reference to abortion because that would be really dark. I don't really want to hear a song about baby murder. That being said I do actually think the line is about divorce

You can’t turn turn the hourglass over and start again. There’s no rewind button. You can’t change your past. But you do determine your future. There’s still time, so what will you do with it? So when its 3am and all these intrusive thoughts are running through your mind. Remember to breathe. Just breathe. Here. Right now. In this moment. Is a gift. I listened to this song for the first time months and months ago and remember I didn’t like it. Last night it came up in my recommended again. One of my favorite songs now I didn’t like months ago, because my music taste is growing exponentially over the last year or so, so I figured I’d give it another shot. I don’t regret it at all. The chorus is actually quite boring for my taste, possibly if I were stressed or having an anxiety attack I’d need to hear to just breathe, but on any given day it’s not super impressive to me. And when a song lacks a big chorus, the rest of the song has to make up for it. And this sure did. She’s got incredible vocals and has amazing songwriting abilities, she tells an incredible story, and it feels like I’m there. She can match her vocals to the instrumentals and can really weave the lyrics and music together. And I love how her accent peeks through around 1:20. It gives it such a rustic and genuine feel that I love. And “life’s like an hourglass glued to the table?” Where does one even come up with that lyric? Wow! It’s such a great metaphor for life that blows me away.

You're a glorious Sigma existence. Had to go looking for a version that wasn't so limp-wristed that it censored the word 'flask'. Thanks.

This is an under rated song. It holds as much meaning as Sarah Mcglouchlans "Arms of an Angel". This song speaks to so many feelings with wisdom.

I absolutely adore this song... It was actually the typical one that I had in my head for literally years and could find out what its name was until I heard it again on the radio and had Shazam on hand 😍😍😍😍 Thanks for sharing!! Greetings from Chile 🇨🇱

+mademoiselle351 indeed, because Chyler Leigh wasn't professional singer. However I think her version is more emotional, like she's acting while singing too, telling herself and others to "breathe, just breathe" when they're facing the prospect of losing one of their own, which fortunately didn't come to that.

“No one can find the rewind button girl, so just cradle your head in your hands” this makes me tear up because it’s so simple but powerful. At least to me, don’t usually comment but just had to for this. Thanks for reading this far
