Breathe Easy: Jafanda JF999 Smoke Eater Review

I built a cigar whiskey man cave, and use fresh filtered outdoor air to flush my cigar smoke out. That way when we get a Haboob (dust storm) I can still be in my cave dust free in Arizona. I designed it with a hidden intake and exhaust duct system. Air comes in, ductless system mixes and throws it across the room, and it exhaust on the opposite side of the room. Ive got 400 CFM of fresh filtered air at my disperse on a remote, in a room with about 800 cubic feet. Which means I can exchange the air in the room every 2 minutes. I also have a Air purifier that has UV and Ionization. Which does a great job removing the smell. Usually the day after the cave is fresh and clean again. Mike the AC guy.

I opted for higher ventilation because I don’t have air conditioning. My space is a 20x20 Just added a few extra vents with 3 10” duct adjustable blowers. It’s perfect for my hobby of woodworking or smoking with friends. Only catch, if I close my windows the door is hard to open because of the air pressure..

I have a 16x12 lounge in my basement running a 950cfm extraction fan out the window with a Rabbit Air Minusa2 set up in the room. Keeps the air pretty clean. Odor is virtually gone within 30 minutes of smoking.

Lots of air in and exhausting out most of the year. House is a wind tunnel! When its cold i run a Renpho that I probably saw reviewed on Cigars Daily!

I smoke on the deck or by my fire pit. My wife is not a big fan of me smoking inside but I totally get it. I have not smoked in the garage yet but I might do that in the winter

Just caught this video today. How is the Jafanda smoke eater holding up ? Right now I smoke in the garage/workshop area and I use what was here at the house when I bought it. It’s an attic fan that was turned into an air evacuation system so to speak. The previous owner I believe used to do some painting and car repair and needed to evacuate fumes and dust. It works, but it’s extremely loud. I’ve turned it into just a place where I can fix and build things with the doors closed when the weather is cold. I also set up a tv and surround system, so when I am working, I can still watch sports or a movie while working, hence wanting something quiet. The total area is around 480.|

The filters are typically just timed. Meaning the filter life isn’t based on how dirty the filter id

I stopped smoking weed in my apartment because people who'd come over would always say "Damn bruh, it smells like hella weed in here.", and I'd be like "Oh. For real?" because I'd genuinely be too desensitized to be able to pick up the scent at all, and I wanted to make sure I was able to get my deposit back. It'd be chill af if I could smoke at home again without worrying about that.

I just picked this unit up from Amazon. I use my heated 3 car garage for Cigars in the winter and would like to improve ventilation...especially when my buddies come over. I'll report back.

@@specularog524 I have not tried with cooking. While it clears the air (less smoke) with cigars, it still smells like cigar smoke in my garage. Just less odor...so I doubt it will completely remove cooking odors.

I don't know. I have a 20" box fan from Walmart that I got for about $20. I also have a 3M Filtrete 20x20x1 Air Filter MPR 1200 MERV 11, Allergen Defense Odor Reduction with a carbon layer attached with 4 bungie cords to the fan. The filters are about $15 a piece if you buy in bulk. Really works for me if you are on a budget. Grant it there is no Bluetooth or wireless, but I just turn it on and leave it on.

A couple of years ago when there was terrible smoke outside from large wild fires our whole house heppa did zero but our electrostatic filter grabbed up the awful smoke! My parents both smoked so they put this Honeywell unit in in the 70s. It is useless at dust and pollen which the heppa does a great job with. I smoke outside exclusively because mom now has COPD and is on oxygen. Never inhaled!!❤

Quick update, they're available again, or at least they are right now. Purchased the slightly smaller unit the JF888 after seeing this review. I live in a small 2 bedroom unit in a duplex house. My landlord who lives in the other unit doesn't mind me smoking in here, but I don't like the smell of stale tobacco when I come home from work. 2 big problems though, I live at 8000+ ft in Colorado. In the harsh winters we have up here, not ideal conditions to enjoy a 1 hr stogie outside when I get home from work after 10 or 11 pm. And the other problem, my unit is a basement apt. Very poor airflow. So I'm either uncomfortable from freezing my nuts off, or from sitting in a hovering smoke cloud. Can't wait to test this purifier out. If it keeps my literal mancave's air quality clean, rest assured it'll do well for yours.
