The symbolism in this could have been Bree breaking away from the white male gaze and expressing her beauty/sexuality as a Black woman on her own terms. The industry is crushing and suffocating to any kind of woman and that's hinted at the beginning before the photoshoot. The end where she literally slayed and starting dancing on top of the dude was her doing her own thing without being stifled by the white male gaze, and the part where she even put his hand on her furthered the power shift because she made a choice for her to be all sexy in front of him This was brilliant

@@goatdeer8403 huh, it’s not enforcing anything. Many men can be effeminate. Black men masculine or effeminate…sold their women .. don’t care about their communities, don’t care about their households, their people, families etc. Are you crying and playing victim to reality and choices of your men?

I like that this draws attention to all of the sexual abuse in the photography business. It is so bad in any part of the entertainment industry. Music, television, movies, modeling, photography... It's so bad. if people only knew they'd be furious. I've had so many photographers offer to take my pictures if I slept with them. Or get me alone for a shoot and try to do something with me... even when I was underage. as young as 15. It's almost a requirement to sleep with them to get anywhere. Why I didn't get further sooner... single mom no money no family, and refuse to sleep with industry people to get ahead. Have to work so outrageously hard to get anywhere in this industry. Learn how to pay for your own. If little girls knew what the entertainment industry entails they would probably become lawyers or doctors instead... women that continue to follow their dreams and fight for what they love are brave women and deserve all the success in the world.

Coming back to this video during BHM has such a different, sobering, and emotionally charged symbolism. This is such a beautifully poetic Justice moment of black rage. Black rage against a white supremacist system, divine black feminine justice against the white male gaze they've been reduced to nothing but body parts under, rage against men's dark obsession with women's fear and harm, and rage against all forms of control and the weakness of self that prevents you from fighting back no matter the cost.
