@SupremeGecko4 жыл бұрын
I appreciate the comments. Could you please elaborate? What specifically needs to be cleaned? Thanks.
@gingerrrgaming7764 жыл бұрын
Happily, nothings perfect but you’re doing a pretty good job. Perhaps just glass cleaning (tedious I know) yet such a rewarding sight after. Also how about trying to thing of how the reptiles view their homes, such as making a more natural looking environment (slightly more expensive) yet again a little bit more out your pocket can go such a longer way. Hope you don’t find my criticism harsh, I would appreciate any opinions on my progress, been researching for the past month or so and I am going to start caring for my own. You’ve been a great amount of information 👌keep up the great vids, and clean that glass (my OCD gets the best of me)
@SupremeGecko4 жыл бұрын
@@gingerrrgaming776 I absolutely do not consider this criticism but consider it constructive suggestions. Thank you!!! I understand the glass completely. No excuses but that angle I recorded at highlighted ANY spots/water stripes. But, I will work harder to fix this in the future. From a naturalistic point of view, unfortunately, I'm setup as a breeder and need to make sure the animals are #1 housed correctly but that I can also maintain and manage easily. Having said this, I have a new project in the future that will feature MORE bioactive enclosures. Thank you for the comments as it is so difficult for a creator to get great comments like this!

Can this method of keeping cresties ( 20 gallon tank,no substrate,dish on the ground) be used for all New Caledonian geckos ?( gargoyles,leachianus,eurydactylodes,etc.)
@SupremeGecko5 жыл бұрын
Not sure about leachies, certainly can for chewies. I never had more than a couple pair of Eurydacs so I always included substrate and plants in for them. For gargs, I've found they always liked to be off the ground on cork bark so this would be fine for them but I give mine 30 gallon enclosures instead (with substrate) (so not very consistent ;)

Dear Wally and Co! I am a very beginner for keeping the crested geckoes. I have 1 adult male and keep him in glass Exoterra tank 45*45*60cm, with coconut substrate, plastic plants, bark and branches. I plan to buy a female next year and will try to breed them. And I've got a couple of questions: 1) can I keep male and female together in one tank constantly or the animals should be separated except breeding time? 2) can the male or female be agressive to breeding partner? 3) shall I make a special 'breeding' terrarium for the breeders? 4) should I use any special diet or other stimulating things (UV lamps etc.)? Thank you in advance! And thanks for your channel!
@SupremeGecko4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for watching the videos and asking very good questions. 1. Many people will say co-habitation is bad. I've co-habitated crested geckos for 20 years without problems 2. They can be. Always watch the pair when you introduce them. 3. No, I am a big believer in making their original home as comfortable for them as you can- plenty of gradiant areas for temperature, and plenty of hiding areas. 4. We feed Pangea diet 3 times a week and once a week insects. Temperatures seem to initiate breeding more than any other stimulus. Good luck and keep me posted.

There’s nothing natural about these enclosures. Nothing to make them feel at home. No real plants and there’s not even any substrate for them. I get it you just want them to breed so you can sell them. You don’t actually care about their quality of life just as long as it’s just good enough for them to make babies.
@SupremeGecko4 жыл бұрын
@@aidanbrennan3474 Thank you for your input Aidan. It is NOT just about selling the animals. If you ask anyone that knows me, you will find that it is more about understanding the animals and educating other keepers. I do care about their quality of life- They get the best foods (actually much better than in the wild), they have a very secure home, they have climbing areas, moderated temperatures, humid hides, etc. And I get your point too that this could be a bigger enclosure, bio-active, planted, etc. But even that is not going to replicate nature. For substrate, please help me understand why substrate is important in my enclosures? Finally, of course I would like to breed and offer them to new owners. This is certainly ONE OF the reasons I keep geckos and other animals. Without breeders, the wild would be even more decimated from collected animals. Again, I appreciate your opinion and hope you can understand mine.
