Just got into the Gouldian hobby. Understanding all this breeding and what produces what is mind blowing. Any videos you can recommend to explain this all?

I have Goldian finches one a male and a female but for some reason they won't breed.😢 Thx from Montgomery Texas.

Could be that they are young? Or possibly they are older birds and past their breeding prime? There could possibly be some underlying health concerns. Or it could be that they need longer to adjust to their current environment and they will eventually breed for you

@@birdnerd I dunno ... sometimes the ONLY available nooky makes you retch and it ain't gonna happen but most times, adding candle light, glass of Chardonnay and soft music eventually does the trick. ;-)

@@ladyhannahs3245 🤣Joking aside, sometimes my Gouldians simply don't like the partner I put in their cage but put them in identical cage with another male and they wiggle their tail feathers and breed like crazy. Also, absence makes the heart grow fonder ... split them up so they can hear but not see each other for a few months and try again. While apart, increase light and add Omni-Vit or Soluvite D slowly. Usually they'll be excited once together again. I wish you the best.

What country or state are you in? I'm curious to find out when is natural breeding time for Gouldians. I have a few pair and they are in separate cages (one pair in each). Both pairs laid eggs immediately but seem to have stopped. I'm afraid I may have put them together a bit early. I'm in Washington State in the U.S.

Yes I’m from Utah. Typically my gouldians want to breed for me in The winter time which would be the summer time from Australia. But you can condition your birds through out the years to breed during specific times of the year if you provide the right lighting and heating elements.

What’s the size of your shed again?

It’s 15 feet long 13 feet wide and 12 feet tall at the highest point. They are not your typical dimensions but I only had a specific piece of land available and I wanted to use it the best I could.
