Glad this went up today as I was worried about it all morning! Poor Dunbar he looks pretty beat up and dejected he's got his tail clamped down tight and head low so Big Joe doesnt come back after him I hope he's just sore being "out of shape" and not truly hurt, I'm not seeing any gouges thankfully.

Bison bulls don’t gather females like equine or deer. They try and join existing cơ herds. They maybe excepted or rejected. Bulls follow individuals coming into heat and try and keep strong males away.

Love to hear Bison Bulls roaring. The noise is amazing! When their tending cows. Seeing cow and bull herds come together during breeding season and pair up. Bulls following cows until they are accepted. It’s surprising how far cows move from their herd and return after breeding.

Amazing how things worked out! The younger cows wanting to be together was really the key, and then Dunbar wanting to go with them and get away from Big Joe. You have a lot of land, when the fences are done, things will be a lot better for both herds. Thanks for sharing...bison are so beautiful!

Oh man Dusty and Marissa! I was holding my breath! I’m so glad that Dunbar decided to follow the herd. Big Joe wasn’t cutting him any slack though. I’m thankful the opportunity came to separate them again. Dunbar was more than ready. It’s been fascinating to watch how your entire herd has interacted throughout this whole process. The bonds that each herd has developed was really an asset when it came to separating them again. I pray that Dunbar heals quickly and has no lasting effects from the fight. Big Joe has definitely shown us who is the boss in your whole herd. Wow. And I just say, Charlie just might be the Only bison cat in the US! I mean she is a tough kitty for such a small girl.
