I’d love to but we won’t be moving into our new home (.7 acres) until the end of November, we’re in Oklahoma and haven’t gardened before so any advice for starting from scratch would be appreciated! We do have a black walnut tree on the property so if you have any advice for how to use those I’d appreciate that too!

Thanks to you, I planted my very first garlic two weeks ago. I'm zone 5b in Colorado. I went today 11/1/24 and purchased (8) t- posts and 2 cattle panels for my luffa, cucumbers and beans in the summer. I also purchased a greenhouse for my mother for Christmas this year. Mom is 75 and my neighbor. She's going to plant the seeds and harden them off and I will manage the garden. We have a plan 🎉

My new home is still under construction, but my contractor told me that I could put in a few raised beds as long as they weren’t in the way. Planted 5 raised beds with over 200 garlic cloves.

Bre, I’m really anxiously waiting to hear how your green tomato salsa turned out. Don’t forget to let us know. In my area tomatoes come in later and if the freeze comes early you have a lot of green tomatoes to deal with. I love salsa verde and if the green tomato salsa is as good that would be a real money saver as the others don’t grow as well. You have a lovely garden in a small area, and it’s so organized!

I'm about 90% sure you and I live in the same area. Love to watch what you do in a week because it always lines up with my garden week. Makes me feel. Better that I didn't have my garlic planted yet (was supposed to plant it today, thanks rain) I got Amish Rocambole and Elephant garlic from Keene Garlic. Anyway. Great video from one kansas girl to another.

Quick thought about your strawberries… with the cover and them being ever bearing, it appears your friendly pollinators cannot access the blooms? Might explain your bad harvest. With a cover, June bearing would be better if you’re willing to sacrifice the space because you keep the cover off while they bloom then once they set fruit you can cover them for protection.

Bree as a garden round up would you be able estimate the cost of your water electricity for fans/grow lights/heat pads /dehydrated,freeze drier and bottler compost / mulch against the approximate cost of what you have saved. Not worried about your bottles and seeds as they are permanent reusable items . Just curious
