Hey Bre. Firstly YES PLEASE we want a succession video and second have you ever considered the Seedtime app?
@itsbreellis19 күн бұрын
Yes! I haven't played around with seedtime but from what Ive seen it would be super handy for a beginner! I just already had a lot of these systems in place and never found a need to use it. Maybe ill give it a go, so I can better advice others!

My husband and I just bought our first home and we have .75 acres to grow our garden on! We are going to be building our raised beds in the next couple of weeks, we already have our compost pile going and about three-million leaves thanks to our mature trees! Lots of stuff to do but we are so excited! I’ve been following you for a while and your content is extra helpful because we are just below you (zone 7b) in Oklahoma!

Thanks Bre! I'm a fellow Kansas gardener and definitely looking forward to 2025! Your story about the first year you gardened and lost everything in the hail storm always gets me, because the same thing happened to us in that darn storm that year! It laid over all my onions and I was new enough that I thought they would straighten up, whoops. 🙃 Love your garden, keep it up!! I've been inspired by you and your garden since 5,000-ish subs! 🥰 (And I'm also an avid spreadsheet user, haha!)

Next week I star my outdoor covered winter stratified stuff. I use a frost cover to try and limit how much rain and snow get onto and into my pots. I also spent almost 2 years creating a sun chart for my yard so I know each area gets how much sun from spring to autumn, dawn to dusk. I had trees fall during storms this past year so I have to remap the entire yard (again). Amending soil, fixing fences, planning where I should put some covered raised beds and what to plant along the fences etc.....gardening never ends and I love it. Edit: At this rate, in three seasons your yard is going to be all cattle panels :P

Can't wait to see how my garden will look this year. This video was inspiring but then I look at my window and I see so much snow, its really a challange when you are new begginer and live in a place where winter is prominent. I still have my hopes up.

Succession planting with examples PLEASE!! I’m from Wisconsin with a much shorter growing season. Not much time for succession there at all, it’s usually one and done. We just moved to Kansas and although I can garden pretty well, planning successions in this long season has been so daunting. Growing seasons being so seasonally specific has meant there’s not a lot of advice for this specific area. Lots of people on the East Coast or California, but you’re my absolute favorite in the midwest. Last year I just gave up from Summer on and by October when there still wasn’t frost, I really knew I had wasted a lot of growing time. Don’t want to repeat that

I also keep my seeds in a photo storage box. To organize my plant out, I have 2 boxes. One is for storage and the other is for grouping seeds by seed start/plant out date. From year to year, what I plant changes, so having containers separate helps me stay organized.

This was a great video!! I’m trying to pick up tips and tricks to be more efficient and this was great! If you want to get away from using the painters tape, you can write in the boxes directly with sharpie, and rubbing alcohol will remove it if you need to erase it and write something different!! I use this method in my photo boxes but learned it on white boards for writing in things like dates on a calendar so I can erase dry erase notes without erasing the things I need to stay!!!

Theres were plants I had in the garden that I removed from a bed to plant garlic. I was needing to do some shuffling and had no idea where I wanted these planted in 2025 so I potted in up in homes I can transplant them to a different area in the spring once I had more of a plan established. I bought bare root plants when I first started growing strawberries and enjoyed going that route! I personally never started any from seed.
