Thank you so, so much for sharing. I thought it would be too hard for my skill level, but I loved making this bag - I've done it twice and will do it again! The squares are fun and quick to make, and sewing them together is so satisfying. The graphics, photos, and instructions in your blog are so detailed and clear. The strap was the hardest/most time consuming part - learning that waistcoat stitch! Realized that sizing up my crochet hook on the row before waistcoat stitch made it much easier. I gave one to my sister for her birthday and she loved it so much she started crying. ♥

Some people like to block the individual squares as they find it easier to seam after blocking! However, if you find that your squares are fairly even and consistent, you can just seam them and block the final bag 👍🏻

What a wonderful video! Thank you so much. I have a question...when doing the SC in the corner chain stitches, it looks like you go into the front of the V stitch, and then catch a stitch at the back before you yarn over. Can you please expand on this?
@AllAboutAmiBlog8 ай бұрын
That’s a great question! Just as you insert your hook into both the front and back loops of a regular stitch when working a single crochet, I insert my hook into both the front and back loops of the chain stitches when working the single crochets in there too 👍🏻
@deekang21398 ай бұрын
@@AllAboutAmiBlog I'm sorry, but I don't understand. The chain stitches only have a V. I usually go under it. Just like on a normal stich, I just go under the V. Am I doing it wrong?
@AllAboutAmiBlog8 ай бұрын
The V consists of a front and back loop, so if you’re going under the V, you might be going through both loops? Do you know if the back bump of the chain is under your hook when you insert your hook into the V?
@deekang21398 ай бұрын
@AllAboutAmiBlog Correct, it is below my hook. All the videos show to just insert your hook under the V forming the top of the stitch, with the bottom part of it below the hook.

Thank you for this tutorial! I’m really confused about round 6: if I skip a stitch on both sides, I only manage to get 9 dc not 10! I think I did previous round correctly, with 16 sts on each side, I only get 11 chains before chain 3 space so I can’t seem to get 10 required at round 6. I tried checking video again and your written guidance but can’t figure it out. I have 13 squares finished to round 5 so would be a shame to stop now! Would really really appreciate some help on this.
@AllAboutAmiBlog Жыл бұрын
If your stitch count was correct in the previous round, then you are possibly identifying the wrong stitch to skip! Sometimes the stitch that needs to be skipped is “hidden” under the corner stitches!

Honestly trying to do the waist stitches were very difficult In the second round and I had to switch to a thinner needle butt I think I'll stich to single crochet in the next view rows for the strap.and I made 180ch because I personally prefer it to be a over the Shoulder strap instead and found 180 fot quite nicely.

@AllAboutAmiBlog3 ай бұрын
Hi there! If you want a more “airy” look, you can keep that last round since it has the chain gaps, but if you want a more solid look, you could remove the last round!

Hmm are you using the same yarn and hook size? Do your stitch counts match at the end of each round? Does your granny square have the same finished dimensions as mine? I would say it’s decently tight since I didn’t want my bag to stretch too much with time and wear! 🧶

Keine ahnung was das bedeutet (10X10 CM , 22M; 28R) ) 80% Bambus 20% Baumwolle. Habe ich bei Tedox gefunden für je 2,50€ - weiß: da habe ich eine halbe Rolle gebraucht. Also ca. 25g. I understand the concept, until I get to the corners. I have looked through your blog extensively and watched many tutorials but none of them have the same chain 3 around the corner. Could you please explain how to stitch the corners? Thank you so much for all the effort put into your content! 💗💗
@AllAboutAmiBlog4 ай бұрын
Thanks for your kind words 🩷 I like to split the chain 3’s like this: one chain belongs to one side and the other chain belongs to the other side. The middle chain can “belong” to both sides so you can stitch through that middle chain when doing both the vertical and horizontal seams!

Thanks for asking! I chose to skip the stitches before and after the corners in Round 5 so it would be less crowded in the corners! I like how this looks so it doesn’t appear as cluttered there ☺️

Do you recommend adding a bag liner? If so, what should I purchase?
@AllAboutAmiBlog10 ай бұрын
Some of my pattern testers lined their bags with fabric! Since I don’t have too much experience sewing, I use a bag organizer insert to instantly add zipper closure and compartments. I bought mine on Amazon, and the brand is called “Periea” (the medium size fits in this bag)!

What do you do with the yarn tail when you finish the granny square?? I feel like you’d be able to see it if you wove it into the edge
@AllAboutAmiBlog8 ай бұрын
I typically keep that yarn tail and weave it in after all the squares have been seamed together 👍🏻 I find it easier to hide that tail after all the squares have been connected so that you can hide them in some of the seams too!

I'm a tiny bit confused. Round 5 here is made of double crochet. In the purchased pattern version, it is made of half-double crochet.
@AllAboutAmiBlog9 ай бұрын
Hi there! I think the pattern you purchased is the “Summer Days Daisy Bag” as Round 5 uses half double crochets for that design! It is a small size bag with one strap. This video here is for the “Breezy Days Daisy Bag” which is a medium size bag that has two straps. I have a separate video for the Summer Days Daisy Bag! 🌼

@AllAboutAmiBlog Жыл бұрын
You can definitely switch up the crochet hook sizes depending on what you have! I would work up a sample granny square using the different hook sizes and see how you like the density of the stitches and the size of the overall square. You don’t want too many holes/gaps and you also don’t want your square to be too small (otherwise your overall bag might be smaller than you expected)!

I’ve already made a bunch of squares and flowers, but I have not figured out why for the flower part, there is some yellow sticking out of the white petals? When we closed off the yellow part w/ a knot, that knot becomes visible, even with the white petals around it.
@AllAboutAmiBlog Жыл бұрын
When I crochet over my yarn tails, I find that the knot gets tucked away and hidden! If it pops back out again, you can use a crochet hook to hide it within a petal again!

Your tension might be tighter, so it’s coming out smaller. Try loosening your hold or increase hook size and see if either of those tips work. Good luck, I’m about to start as well.
@AllAboutAmiBlog Жыл бұрын
Your tension is probably different than mine! As the other commenter suggested, you can try loosening your tension or move up a hook size if you want your squares to be the same size as mine. You can continue going with your 4x4 squares too - just keep in mind that your overall finished bag will be smaller than my final dimensions!

Hello! I just started crocheting last week and I bought a med (4) worsted milk cotton yarn but it looks too bulky compared to yours. I can't even close the yellow magic ring fully. Is yarn thickness different for types of yarn? 😢😢😢
@AllAboutAmiBlog10 ай бұрын
That’s amazing how you started crocheting last week! Yeah, there can be different thicknesses even within the same yarn type. I would say that 24/7 Cotton (the yarn I used) is in the thinner side of worsted weight, so it probably is thinner compared to the one you are using!

Hello and thank you for the video. When using only one color do you cut the yarn between the different steps or is it possible to continue with the same color without cutting the yarn?

You’re very welcome! When you’re using only one color, you do not need to cut the yarn as you can continue using it round by round! You can follow the same instructions, just note that when finishing Round 3, you can slip stitch to the next ch-3 space and then begin Round 4.

Just to confirm for round 6, I am supposed to skip a stitch for each dc, EXCEPT for the one right before the corner stitches, right? Also, do you just weave in the very last yarn tail of the square? Or should I leave that until I weave my squares together?
@AllAboutAmiBlog6 ай бұрын
Yes there will be spaces between the double crochets (you chain 1 in between) and you skip the stitch right after the corner stitches. You can either weave in that final end right away or leave it and weave it in after all the squares have been seamed together!
@lucindaviolin6 ай бұрын
@@AllAboutAmiBlog Thank you for your response! You mentioned in the tutorial that whenever seaming the squares together, the wrong side of the squares should be facing out (so the seams are hidden). Does that mean when I am using yarn strand 2 and 3 to join the sides after folding it upwards, I should turn the bag inside out to sew the sides?

I'm a bit confused @AllAboutAmiBlog, There is a conflicting instruction between the online pattern and the video when it comes to the first chain 3 and then dc when adding in the 3rd color. On the online pattern it says that the first chain 3 counts as a DC and to do 2 DC then CH 3 then 3 DC, in this pattern you are doing the chain three and then 2 additional DC at the start. thank you
@AllAboutAmiBlog Жыл бұрын
Hi there! That’s right - both are the same! When adding in the third color, you chain 3 to start (which counts as 1 dc), then work 2 dc, chain 3 (forms the chain space) and then 3 dc. These are the corner stitches!
