He nailed that Sean Connery impersonation perfectly

I found it funny that, in the episode we have an impersonator for someone who played James Bond, the loot stolen was something blown up by James Bond (though that movie came right after this show).

He looked to be a teenager age 13-14 years old at the time (1991). Middle school students in New York were chosen to be on the show.

I wish you didn't mess with the volume for the theme song, it's been safe to have Carmen episodes with theme song intact for a long while now

I'm amazed watching the episodes how many kids risk weird amounts on the final jeopardy styled question. Back then, I knew how to play jeopardy, because they at least had the teen tournament edition. The guy in first place only needed to risk 15 to tie for first of the girl picked 50, and 20 to win, yet he picked 30 and could have potentially lost. Also, the person in last place should almost always risk 50, unless they are very close to the second place person, and think that they might both miss the answer. If you're in last place, then you want to avoid a tie because you've already proven you have less geographical knowledge than the others, so you're more likely to lose the tiebreaker question.

There's something I've wondered. I read Lynne's segments were taped in advance. She was never "live" on the show with Greg. However, some episodes (like this one) she pulls random members of the studio audience into her office at the end of the show. So I'm kind of confused how that works, if she's not "live" on the show like Greg is how do they achieve her talking with a random audience member?
@munimathbypeterfelton6251 Жыл бұрын
During Season 1 of Where In The World Is Carmen Sandiego? every episode was filmed live entirely from beginning to end without any edits made. The remaining seasons were recorded in a different television studio and pre-taped Lynne Thigpen’s parts due to her very busy schedule on Broadway and subsequent lack of availability for live taping of WITWICS episodes.

I'm always surprised when someone doesn't get South America...that's one of the easiest maps other than the States one.
@DreamDancer826 жыл бұрын
That's true, but sometimes, geography is not everybody's strong suit, and you have to factor in short term memories, having a countdown and running back and forth.

It's technically easier than the states, it only has 13 countries. The thing is most Americans learn all fifty states by a young age due to their exposure to maps and stories about them. I remember taking geography in school, and South America was the easiest quiz we had for filling in the countries on a map. Africa was definitely the hardest, because it has so many small countries with little to no international economic or political significance, so you just had to cram and try to memorize the order of the countries around the coast, and hope you could remember the interior ones.
@danaabel10495 жыл бұрын
@@litigioussociety4249 Actually, S. America has only 12 countries, b/c Fr. Guiana's NOT a country. It's actually a department of France.
