Look, I know it's 7 years later, but this video is just what I needed today. Thanks for taking the time to explain the mapping. The wiring diagram I got with my StewMac switch seemed to be reversed from what I was looking at on the physical switch, and my middle position wasn't engaging either pickup. With this information, I should be able to sort out what's going on without simply relying on their diagram.

since i never use the middle position on my guitar, i wire the 3 way switch as blower switch also. position 1, neck, 2: bridge 3. bridge straight to the jack. theres a on off on switch to split either neck or bridge. the result is, i can use single channel amp and go from metal to pristine clean and jangly cleans in a sweep of a 3 way switch. super handly to me, saves me more money and pedals.

Hello, very interesting. I have a question for an expert: I have a 67-68 tele custom. Originally it had that silly switch 3 position bass-neck-bridge. I had it changed because the bass one was just useless. I understand that was an original set up, but nobody talks about that. Did everybody change the set up as I did and just forgot about it. What's the story behind that?

@BrejaToneWorks8 жыл бұрын
No - changing the gauge of wire doesn't require any special work. Some wire is better than other though. Solid Strand is ok but brittle. Multi-Strand wire is stronger but doesn't always stay put. You don't need to go really thick in the gauge.

Doug, I have a question about wiring a guitar. I built a pick guard with a Seymour Duncan pearly gates (bridge hum bucker) and a little 59 single coil sized hum bucker in the neck. What I am trying to do is have 2 volumes and one master tone. I also want the center position to play both. Here is a list of my components. 2- Seymour Duncan hum buckers, 3 500k Mojotone vintage taper pots, 3- way CRL blade switch. My biggest complaint is wiring two volumes...I cannot seem to get the separation of the volumes. I want the top pot to run the bridge, the middle ;to to run the neck and the third pot to run the tone for both and the center position. My CRL 3-way switch does not look like any pot ive seem with respect to the lug layout. Their are 4 on the left and 4 on the right but the right side has the highest lug.....not like the tutorial you have shown. Also worth noting is the bottom lug on the left is common and the upper lug on the right in common. I would be willing to pay you for a drawing of how to hook this up. I also notice this guitar has very noisy ground loop noise. Any help with the noise problem would be appreciated as well. I need to know exactly where every single wire goes to include the input jack. Any help is greatly appreciated....thanks in advance.

@andresmendez6870 Жыл бұрын
Would this work if I wanted to have a separate tone control for the bridge?
@masongregory2783 ай бұрын
If it's just a tone for the bridge, just attach the pot to the same lug (on the switch) as the lead wire of the bridge pickup.
@1thess5237 жыл бұрын
I had a question, is it possible to wire a guitar directly to the input jack by passing the tone pots yet still being able to use your pick up selector? My son doesn't use his tone knobs and he controls his volume with his volume pedal.
@zsaz44536 жыл бұрын
Yes, just wire the PU to the Jack, Hot to hot, usw.Its very easy i did it often.. But its better to have a pod between, because it might have hugh noise problems in the Background . At least Di Marzio gave me that tip.

Another helpful video! I have a question relating to a 4 way switch. I followed your Tele 4 way combination a while back and it worked great. I was watching a video where a man was playing a Tele with a gibson humbucker in front with standard single coil rear and he had a four way switch. It yielded some great sounds. Would the individual pup's polarity be a factor in wiring up a system like this? Thanks for all your helpful vids.
@BrejaToneWorks8 жыл бұрын
+Mitch Arney Normally - No. The 4-way would do the same function with the HB in the neck as it would if a SC was in the neck. Neck and Bridge independent and Neck and Bridge in Series or Parallel. If you used a RWRP SC in the bridge there might be a slightly different sound. I've never tried that so I can't tell what the effect would be.
@mitcharney18 жыл бұрын
+Breja ToneWorks Thanks for your help! I do want to avoid any out of phase sounds, if possible. You mention RWRP for the bridge pup, mine is south wound. My understanding is SW bridge with the back Gibson coil being NW and the front coil SW.....you have S-N-S polarities. Am I making sense? Thanks
@BrejaToneWorks8 жыл бұрын
+Mitch Arney Yes - you would be correct. You might have to pull a Keith Richards and flip the HB around to adjust for the polarity issue.
@mitcharney18 жыл бұрын
+Breja ToneWorks Thanks......could it be that switching the hot and ground on the bridge pup would also work...for polarity?
@BrejaToneWorks8 жыл бұрын
+Mitch Arney No - it's how the windings go around the magnet. Some people open up the pickup and flip the magnet. I'm not the brave or ambitious.

Are you still active on here? I've been looking for information for quite a while now on how the second 3 way switch works on a vintage hagstrom swede.
