Loved seeing the quilted items from Vintage Blessings. I’ve been making quilts since 1974 and the 1930’s and 1940’s is my favorite era of quilts. I’ve made 2 Dresden Plates and 2 Grandmothers Flower Gardens in addition to many Log Cabin quilts. I have no idea how many quilts I’ve made but I imagine 200-300 over 40 plus years….. I still love it but now I’m so into cross stitching samplers. Bottom line: I love that you appreciate these treasures. Love watching you and Laura….. thank you. Mona in Florida.

Thanks for answering my questions on samplers. I agree that I like the idea of stitching what the original stitcher did but like at Laura’s house, some things just wouldn’t fly here. And I do like keeping the original name, I like the historical connection. I guess I’ll just play it by ear as the verses come up in stitching. And Brenda, yes, Patriots Day is coming up … Boston Marathon. I always chuckle when you both talk about ordering to help get you through the work day. I remember those days well. 😊
@brendaandtheserialstarter2410 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Lisa...that reminds me...there is a Wishing Thorn chart I want....off to shoom!!!!! I think changing the verse if it is too religious or something, but keeping the original stitcher's name is the route I will go.

How now brown cow. I had forgotten this saying until I watched your program. I think my mother used this saying. She grew up in Nebraska. I did the over one stitching on 40 count on Harriet Godhard 1817. I started it before I realized it had over one stitching. It was not as hard as I thought it would be. I did the full cross but I also like the idea of doing the tent stitch. I would probably do the tent stitch the next time I do over one. Thank you for wonderful program. Happy Easter.

I'm so glad you mentioned Sarah and her Stitchy Spot -- and don't forget her DH Stan, who did the music! She is a fave of mine, for sure. Thanks to your last post, I now subscribe to Stitching Bunny. She and Carol Salt Box and I are all around the same age, and I really love that! As for Birgit -- I'm working on "Bernarad Bellon" -- a Spanish repro sampler she did, in memory of my late cousin, a Canadian, who married a Spaniard and moved to Seville almost 60 years ago. Our family visited in 1992 -- and I have fond memories. The sampler will be given to her younger sister, who lives on the West Island of Montreal. As Sarah (Stitchy Spot) recently opined...this stitching community is all about connection. I am a quilter and a knitter too and in ALL THREE textile communities, I find the same richness of friendship, fun and connection. There's a line in Psalm 90 that reads, "May the favor of the Lord our God rest on us; establish the work of our hands for us- yes, establish the work of our hands" -- and this is what happens with all of us who work with our hands.

"How Now Brown Cow" is something we said when I was growing up in northern Minnesota. There are so many unique 'sayings' from the Midwest. I love them and will often still use them (and feel out of place) on the east coast. But they are so fun! Once again I filled two pages of list from your fosstube. Thank you for letting us know about that thumbnail. Just love that antique sampler too...have you ever thought about having it reproduced? It really is a stunning piece. Now, I have a confession, I've never railroaded my threads, nor have I hever split the dmc threads so that the two strands are separate. I would think that it would make it more difficult for them to lie flat? I don't know, it's just I've always done it that way. And thank you for the time and loveliness! Hugs and Love, Jen
@brendaandtheserialstarter2410 Жыл бұрын
Thank you Jennifer! Maybe when Brenda retires she will reproduce it...not sure yet. Try splitting those DMC threads...we think it definitely helps them lay nicer together. Let us know what you think if you do it.

O ladies, I’m stitching on my very first sampler and I’m so excited. I’m stitching Marie Journet 1863 on 36count with classic color works Cupid. I can’t read the name of the linen, but I got it from the kitten stitcher. First time using linen and first time doing it on 36 count! Thank you for all the encouragement. I so enjoy you two. Laura, my hearts a flutter😅

I definitely need to kit and add that cookbook tomato pattern to my small bag of possibilities!! Actually, maybe I need a bag of kits just from the cookbook, because there are so many fun ones in there. Fun FlossTube - thanks for sharing today! - Sheri

The how now brown cow was a Kansas/Missouri saying also. It was to teach us the “ow” sound. It always puts a smile on my face, too! I always learn so much from your videos! A pleasure to look forward to every other Sunday or Monday!! Sorry work is such a bummer!!😢Probably 2 more months? 🤞🏻Keep stitching, lovely ladies!!

Patchwork Rabbit is my local LNS. Chippenham is a small market town, where I live, and Patchwork Rabbit is in a very small village just outside of Chippenham called Bromham. Fantastic service and I would highly recommend them 💜🎉💜

I enjoy watching your flosstube so much. You make me laugh and seeing your friendship is so nice. As a fellow accountant I pray the next few days go well for Brenda as we finish tax season. Stitching is my stress relief. I plan to take Wednesday off and am going to start a new stitch, probably a Blackbird design. Next week I will have my first mammogram after breast cancer treatment. I am going to celebrate that day that it was caught early and I am a survivor by starting something that day. I might become a serial starter.🩷
