Wonderful Brenda Lee - the only woman in both The Country Music Hall of Fame and The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. She deserves both!
@bobwallace98145 жыл бұрын
She is 15 years old here. She started in singing contests at age 4. She was a regular on TV at age 10. This song reached #1. When her father died while she was 10, she became the sole breadwinner in the family. She stood 4'9" and wrote her first hit song "Dynamite" which was a naughty tune at age 12. The perennial Christmas tune "Rocking around the Christmas Tree" at 13 yrs old. She was huge in England and when she sang with her band at the Star Club, the opening act for her was the Beatles.

I've watched many different people "reaction" videos but subscribed to yours because he have diversity to include music all the way back to the 50s. I love all decades from the 50s to modern and most genres -- its great to see more than just the same bands over and over again. Kudos!

Brenda Lee is the #1 selling female vocalist of the entire 1960's decade. She is ranked as the #4 top selling artist of the 60's; just below Elvis, The Beatles and Ray Charles. Her records have charted in pop, rhythm and blues, rock, easy listening and country categories. As a result, to this day, she holds the record for charting in more categories than any other female in recording history. She is also the only female artist inducted into both the Rock and Roll and Country Music Halls of Fame.

Brenda Lee ("Little Miss Dynamite"), from Atlanta, Georgia, she was only 15 or 16 years old when she did this song in 1960! This is such a touching song! Her voice and the emotion she puts in it. And the beautiful yet sad melody. This kind of music still has an impact on people. Sure hope you do some more Brenda Lee soon! Thank you for this!

My mother told me that Brenda performed in our small town in SC and remembers seeing her sing. Though she was born in Atlanta, her family ended in Augusta, GA,. a town right next to us. My mother said her father used to stand her up on a bench that was used for those waiting on the bus and have her sing. and crowds would gather. She was eventually found and skyrocketed from there.

When I think of Brenda Lee I think of Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree -- can't get away from that one during the holidays. But this is a great oldie.
@terrycox62664 жыл бұрын
Brenda Lee recorded the song early in 1960, but her label, Decca Records, held it from release for several months out of concern that a 15-year-old girl was not mature enough to sing about unrequited love. When the song finally was released, it was considered to be the flip side of the more uptempo "That's All You Gotta Do".

Brenda Lee is one of the greatest singers ever, around the world, I swear. Perfect pitch - something I can´t say of today´s idols, and shé´s much better live.. I think this song doesn´t really show her full potential but you might remember her more from "Walking around the Christmas tree". or "Sweet nothings". Her version of "The end of the world" is the best, IMO. Elvis was a fan of her. she was a rocker.
