THIS IS HEARTBREAKING!! He would have never put Brenda through this. The writers made Sonny’s character cold hearted. What a waste!!

I was watching at the time and super excited for her return. I recall reading that because of VM contract only being for 6 months, and the producers wanting Sonny and Carly to be this Supercouple they were all over the place in terms of how to handle Brenda's return. They knew they wanted VM back badly, but dropped the ball in terms of the writing. However this was a drop in the bucket compared to how bad the writing was in her 2 other returns.

I remember thinking when I first saw this, Sonny's feeling were hurt because Brenda said it was better to stay with Altazar than be with him (Sonny) or AppleJxx because of her illness. I'm sure Sonny did not hear the illness part. Watching this now, I stand by my original thoughts. Also, Sonny sounded and looked like a wounded kid standing outside that window talking to Jason. Like he had been rejected by the woman who held his ❤. Also, he wasn't about to let Brenda go so she could go to AppleJxx. Remember Sonny could be PETTY.

After watching older clips and then watching this- Sonny would have never let her think he was dead. Sonny would have veen so grateful she was alive and yes he would of been sad she was goung to get sick but he still would have given her a lecture about not pushing away those that love you.

Sonny, you just ASKED Jason like fifty million questions about what Brenda wants and he told you HE DOESN'T KNOW! So, how are you gonna say it's pretty CLEAR what Brenda wants.....WTW??? Sonny: It's pretty clear what Brenda wants in her life. I'm not part of it so. Ummm.....WHAT DOES THAT EVEN MEAN??? Even Jason had some sympathy for seeing her in pain. DAM, Brenda don't cry, you gonna make me cry.

Carly ended up being with Sonny, Jax, Alcazar...all the men Brenda was with. Carly even had a moment/night with Jason just like Brenda had a moment/kiss with Jason. It is like they tried to replicate Brenda which was/is/always will be an Epic Fail! Carly can stand alone have her own moments but in the beginning I think the writers threw a lot of people off of the character Carly because they tried to emulate a Brenda which is not possible. There has only been one actress for Brenda but the writers have had replaced Carly 4 times. Just shows Brenda is irreplaceable!

@@kellyanndean9374 - Brenda ended up with Jax after her break down because he helped her through it. He made sure the media was kept out of it and got Robin to come back to make things better for Brenda. Jax and Brenda were engaged when she got into an accident while driving with her mother. Brenda's mother went insane and cause the accident that caused the car to go off the cliff and into the water. Jax and the authorities searched for them all night and day, but were not successful. That is the last time anyone heard from Brenda..She was presumed dead until her return in 2002, which is what we're watching now!

I think the reason Sonny was so cold in this scene is because he's hurt that Brenda allowed him to believe she was dead for four years. Its almost like he's paying Brenda back by making her believe he's dead. He stated "its obvious what Brenda wants in her life and i am not apart of it". Yeah he's pissed.
