From the enchanting album ''Ark'' 2010.
Enjoy..
The stars You see in the night sky
Have been dead for centuries
Starlight creates the illusion
Of life for all these years
Now I no longer trust these eyes of mine
The heart must speak to me
In tongues of forgotten voices
In ancient harmonies
So that I can see
Heavens are merely illusions
When You build them high in the sky
And hell is the final solution
For those who have no faith in this life
They are blinded by lies
Here in the garden, fountain of life
Here in the garden of arcane delights
Are born from a womb
Down here the seed will rise
From dark earth to the light
To kiss the sun again
She brings me flowers
To ease the pain
She brings me light
Where only darkness waits
And the more I see
The more life means to me
And the way you love the wild earthly dream
She sings her song for You and me
I don't care what lies beyond this world
All I really care about is you
All Mother Nature's gifts of life have made
Have made this world a paradise for You and I

Met this man a few months ago. He talked to me, laughed and joked with me and even hugged me. Truly his spirit is as beautiful as his voice

Brendan Perry's music seems to get more and more haunting as time goes on. It's as if with time his music is becoming deeper and more beautiful. I don't see how anyone could dislike something so magical.

Brendan, I am melting in your voice. Thanks for your emotions. Pure magic. One of the best man´s voices in this world. The older he gets, the more pure his voice. All the pain and love is transformed within.

Brendan has such a wonderful style and singing voice he is unique and he surely is an angel for singing the way he does ,I love him because the whole of my life his songs kept me sane kept me calm on long haul flights where i was well past my tether when all the trollie dollys in the sky could not help this 6'3 man find a space to lay flat out when Brendan sent my mind drifting away from where i was ,away from the metal chairs digging in at my knees and elbows far far away from the constant harassment of the duty free sales and turbulence and nearer to heaven ,what a wonderful man his a beautiful soul xxxxxxx

I think I can recognize three parts to this song. In the first, he talks, informs about some things in the universe like the dead stars and their light. Afterwards there seems to be some frustration over the fact that heaven is unreachable when built so high and some bold confidence that the seed will rise to the sun again. Then comes tranquility and acceptance, happiness in the fact that he loves and cares about that person and it's fine living with them in a mortal but beautiful world. I've listened to this since I was a child, never fails to calm me.

i'm the only one who totally goes out of this material world to reach something that only Brendan Perry can give with his poetry ? DcD and his single project are just a fusion of sense, emotions and the searching for what we feel inside.. and no i don't forget Her, Lisa Gerrard ;)

First, I want to say that I love this song and I love its lyrics. At the same time I want to say that these words: "The stars You see in the night sky Have been dead for centuries" are wrong ... They assume that time is linear and separate from space ... Thanks to both Einstein's relativity and quantum physics, this illusion of linear time separate from space has been replaced with a space-time continuum and a nonlinear pluriverse. So the stars I see in the night time are alive for me in my (beyond) spacetime. Still, a beautiful song. Let us all be in love forever with all of the pluriverse each of us experiences ....

The opening line of this song is not literally true. Most of the stars we see with our naked eyes are within a few hundred to a few thousand light years away, all in our galactic neighborhood, and literally NONE of them are anywhere close to their death throes, so in fact, all the starlight we see is from currently living stars, even if we're seeing them as they were centuries or a millennium ago. Just wanted to point that out. The poetic idea is still potent!
