Trainer Brendan Walsh had the opportunity to visit Maxfield, his first Grade I winner, as the Godolphin homebred settled into his new home in the Darley stud barn at Jonabell Farm. We spoke with Walsh as well as Darley's Darren Fox.

Could have been just my confidence in the horse against that group, but (imo) Max's last race was some of the easiest money you could make in this game. Wishing him all the best as a sire and potential sire of sires.

Yeah, a no-show at the BC because you knew he didn't stand a chance in hell in the Classic and would finish up the track behind even EQ, so you went for a softer field to get a G1 on him before you retired him. 🐤

I guess to you a glass is always half empty. Negative. The point of this video was to show what a beautiful horse Maxfield is. And he is. Hopefully make a great stallion.

@@philrussell9564 Handsome is as handsome does. Look at Maxfield's record and compare it to that of Citation. Then get back to me about how beauty is the greatest attribute for a Thoroughbred.

@@DoubleDogDare54 i don't think Darley were trying to compare Maxfield with Citation. Or to claim he was one of the all time greats. He was a lovely horse won some decent races and never ran a bad one. With his looks and pedigree all good. I was at Newmarket in 1985 to see two of Sheikh Mohammeds first greats in Pebbles and Oh So Sharp so know a bit. All the best to Maxfield.
