Hi Brendan, hope you are doing well I am using Opensees to analyze bridge structures for my PhD program and even if at first I was a little bit intimidated by the fact that it is essentially a command line software, I can confirm that it is probably the most versatile structural analysis software available. Also, considering that the community provides cool updates to the element library and that you can script your costum elements by yourself (if you want/need to do it) I think Opensees is a fundamental tool for both research and engineering practice. As a final word, good job as usual, really enjoyed this video

Hi Tonio, long time no see. Thanks for the long term support. I think engineers need to get more familiar with this type of software. It is every powerful and free to boot.

@@BrendanHasty Yeah, I've been super busy in the last months because of both the PhD program and the abilitation exam (basically in Italy we have to pass this exam after the degree if we want to be "real" engineers). Good to see that your channel keeps growing (and the quality of the content as well)

Probability based design code such as Euro Code is the code used in Wind turbine design. When a machinery becomes mega size, the structure design code is needed to your design.

The real question is. Brendan. If you had to start a consulting agency from scratch which software package would allow you to tender for the highest volume of work, and potentially win those said tenders and deliver high quality analysis to the australian public at a timely rate. -Isaac

I've been using mechanicalc recently. I've used skyciv before and I think mechanicalc has many more tools than skyciv imho, including all the same packages that skyciv has, all included in the basic price.

Hey Brandon Great video and i would throw a software in the ring, Cadre Analytic Pro. While it is not free it is very affordable, user friendly and does not restrict the number of nodes or elements like the big boys. Also if you get the whole suite it covers geodesic domes cable structures and hydraulic systems. I am not associated with them nor paid but i do love their program.
