Maple is an amazing wood for drumsticks, however longevity is very short. But I will admit maple just feels so good to play

I absolutely love the Maple 531 Jason Bonham sticks. The balance is amazing for a thicker stick and are more durable than some hickory sticks that I've used. I have purchased 3 pair and still on my first pair after 3 practices and 2 gigs. I do enjoy a few other brands also but these are flat out great sticks for being Maple. $10 a pair definitely worth it.

so, that means maple sticks are harder to double stroke ?
@BrendrumJones
@BrendrumJones 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, no I don't think so, it depends on the technique. But that small variable of weight wouldn't effect the overall potential of achieving the double. Sorry for sounding like a instructional manual 😂😂

I always used hickory in the past until I tried maple! I'm now using Vater 5B sugar maple and will not look back. I agree tho, when they break, they usually break completely in half but the tip usually stays intact!

What are your favorite drumsticks to use
@BrendrumJones

Hey, I generally use promark 5b naturals, they have no lacquer on them so I feel they have better grip, I was going to move to the maples but there was non that suited me at the time and the Todd sucherman sticks are not worth the price

Hickory is the Mike Tyson of drum sticks. That’s a hard wood reference. I don’t tend to chip tips my drum sticks tend to break at the shoulder.
