Pure Genius, Beethoven would be proud to hear you play his music in your own style - have a great Christmas
@TestGearJunkie.Ай бұрын
Absolutely, my mum was always of the 'play it as the composer wrote it' school. But I've recently been listening to an old vinyl album I've got called 'Switched On Bach' where Bach's music was played on an old Moog synthesiser. It was brilliant, imagine what Bach or Beethoven would have produced if they'd had modern instruments..?

These young students are learning a really useful lesson in music. The ability to play by ear, is priceless.
@harpintnАй бұрын
I have been playing exclusively by ear for quite a few years. It has been so long since I have looked at sheet music I don't know If I could even read it now.
@chris-4566Ай бұрын
@ I taught guitar by ear for 20 years, it’s the way most guitarists want to learn these days, thankfully. I have never got on with purely reading musicians, they can rarely improvise or play without sheet music which seems bizarre to me. Each to their own, I suppose.
@harpintnАй бұрын
@@chris-4566 I can certainly see the advantages of reading music well as it makes it easier to learn new songs without having to listen to someone else play it. I have played the harmonica publicly for about 25 years, but I also play the Ocarina some, an twiddle a little with a couple of other fipple flutes. I would love to learn the guitar, but my hands have endured too much abuse over the years to be able to contort into the various shapes needed to play the guitar.
