In this Photoshop tutorial, you'll learn how to add fog to a photo from scratch. Using two different techniques, we first reduce the contrast of the background, and then add a cloudy texture to finalize the result. This is a great way to add realistic fog that isn't too overdone while keeping total control of the final result. You can use the cloud brushes you may already have or the same ones I used in this tutorial. Regardless of what you do, these steps will leave you with realistic fog effects in Photoshop.

The way too sharp edge of the foreground against the foggy background makes it look fake!
