Thanks Ricky for standing up to "keeping a sense of humour" against political correctness. Exactly what Mike Reid tried to do, but youre just a lot more funny bless him. Political correctness has gone insanely mad, and I wouldn't be surprised if labour are already reporting this great video. The stuck up biscuits.. And Yes we need this for ukip and eurovision! The difference between Ricky Gervais and David Brent is that Brent thinks he’s tolerant to other cultures and wants to try and convince people he’s culturally aware when he’s not. Gervais on the other hand knows he’s tolerant to bad aspects to society like animal cruelty, racism, sexism, . Transgender people on the other hand Gervais doesn’t have a problem punching down to. I see in the video a police officer (granted not white) beating someone of another ethnicity. I can’t help but feel on an emotional level, Gervais is doing this metaphorically to the trans community in the comfort of his standup shows. Hey if he wants to do that in his standup, absolutely. A group of people clearly find that funny and think his career hasn’t had diminishing returns since the office. I think it’s ok for people to like his work in the present day. I’d also say it’s ok to have the opinion that he’s a smug boring comedian who hasn’t done anything of substance for 20 odd years. I think I’d be more ok with Gervais if he didn’t keep pointing the “you’re offended” finger whenever somebody makes the totally fine opinion that they don’t like him anymore. I’m sure Gary Shandling did a similar thing to him when he made fun of Gervais.
