The problem with asking “will you forgive me?” is that it then puts the burden on the injured party. You apologize because you owe it to the injured party. Forgiveness is for them to decide to give… or not.
@Babylon5FortheFirstTime9 ай бұрын
Correct. They can always make the decision to not forgive. That is their right. To that person, I would say that holding on to unforgiveness is like poison to the soul. I once heard someone actually describe it as drinking poison and hoping the other person dies. I find that to be fairly accurate.

@@Babylon5FortheFirstTime I referenced this in another post but Delenn actually did this to G’Kar, asking if he would one day forgive her, prompting his response “Perhaps but not today”. I thought she was way out of line to make it about her at that point.

The term "stat" is derived from the Latin word “statim,” which means “instantly” or “immediately.” In other words, "do it NOW." And sure, they use the term in medical shows, because medical personnel use the term in real life in emergency situations, indicating that a particular task must be completed without delay. Tell a medical team that you need something "stat," and they immediately know what it means. Londo had just collapsed. So yeah, Zack using the word "stat" there was 100% appropriate - and accurate.

Interestingly enough one of the second season episodes had a dream sequence like this involving G'kar, where he went a healing coma fight off an illness and experienced Babylon 5 in very strange role reversal: unfilmed episode "Dream within a dream" involved G'kar becoming earth alliance captain Jack Carr in charge of babylon 5 with Cmdr. captain Dylan (Delenn played Mira Furlan without make up) and security chief Lem (played by Peter Jurasik, also without makeup). He also had to mediate between Minbari Ambassador Sherrdin, Narn Ambassador S'san and Centauri Ambassador Garabaldo, to navigate this dream world. Only constant was Kosh, who stayed the same. This episode also takes it's name from unfilmed second season episode "The very long night of Susan Ivanova", which would've involved Ivanova told to take time off.

I have very mixed feelings about redemption of someone who caused mass murder at that scale. In real life it'd be a lot harder to be charitable to the same thing than to a fictional character. I suppose part of it is that in fiction you 'know' that it's a true redemption. In real life you can stay suspicious.

@@Babylon5FortheFirstTime There is forgiveness, even for the most despicable of souls. You are right about sorry not being enough but it is the first step. The second is asking for forgiveness.
