The more I watch your vids the more I am convinced that patterns based on browns, tans, and grays are by far the superior performers except when exposed to the greenest environments.
@nicholashodges20110 ай бұрын
That's the thing. It's *always* about matching with the environment. I live in the eastern Midwest. You'd stick out like a sore thumb for half the year wearing this stuff. It's way too brown
@kingofthefleetians8 ай бұрын
That's what I've always found to be the case, if you look into the woods when there's no leaves its kind of a hazy brownish grey. The swedish m39 uniform matches that color almost to a T and my set has let me hide from people both in woods like that and tan grass with ease

These are EXTREMELY effective for this application! I only saw them once before when I was thirteen or fourteen at Philmont Scout Ranch in Cimeron, NM. This would work well in my neck of the woods in Wintertime.
@uberschultz92129 жыл бұрын
I have the desrt tiger, and it is a great multi-eviro pattern in the western US. Lighter colors aren't good at night though because you can catch movement against darker backgrounds.
@straightwarlock53414 жыл бұрын
Uberschultz there is a tiger version with black lines which makes you almost invisible at night as well. Magic.
@Socpro2b Жыл бұрын
Something I feel people misinterpret is that black actually makes you blend in during the night. NO it does not I think people don’t understand the bright camouflage that blends in during the day with ALSO blend in during the night just as well if not better Becuase the camouflage darkens with the environment on the other hand black makes you stick out Becuase your just a body shape of a different shade a black and it doesn’t mix well.
@lowlandnobleman674611 ай бұрын
That’s generally why many police forces use dark blue uniforms instead of black uniforms. Both will stand out during day, but the dark blue more accurately matches the night skies.

When it comes to camo I know you're really big on saving money by trying to find the best deals and lowest prices. And I think that's smart, but if you're ever willing to splurge I strongly recommend that you get some elusion camouflage. It's the most advanced most realistic camouflage I have ever seen, it's a non-printed non-repeating pattern that uses natural coloring and the creator claims that all of the patterns are multi-season/multi-terrain and that it's fadeproof. It is expensive but it's definitely worth it, I just ordered some and I can't wait to get it, when you get the chance you should check it out.

I bought the desert tiger bdu for the fall here in the mts of VA. It works amazingly well at close and distance with leaf litter prone or in the back ground., and fields with brush. Thanks Brent for the vid! The JWTiger works well in spite of the black here also in the summer and early fall when I tested it. However, I believe I will be able to use the ATACS FG through almost 4 season use. So that will be my next purchase. Marine dessert dig was to bright, and Marine woodland dig was to dark in the summer. The Marine woodland dig works good in the fall here but not when the leaves are down. The brown tones seem more noticeable in the summer and in the late fall winter the green tones stick out. Buying the next size up with any BDUs can help with layering for colder temps. Your vids helped me make a good purchase.

Awesome videos man, you should get some coyote brown fatigues and make a video. Coyote brown not only blends well in a desert's it also blends well in woodland environments during the fall and winter. It's basically the brown version of OD, I wear it when ever I got paintball fighting and my opponent's always have a hard time spotting me.

I decided not to go with the ATACS AU or FG and bought the DT instead. It blended better and it is a lighter fabric. The lighter fabric dries faster, is better for layering and better on those warm fall to early winter days here in the mountains of VA. The ATACS on closer inspection are heavy weight fabric. I get too hot with activity and heavy fabric is only suitable imho in winter here. Definitely leaning toward JWD T, but after seeing your brown dominant ERDL vid I want to see if I can find a set. Been running cheap foam knee pads 1 oz each for about 2 years now. I like them better than the Blackhawk ones I bought 10 years ago. Thought I would pass the tip on.
@Brent03317 жыл бұрын
Thanks brother, glad I could assist with your decision making process. Finding Brown dominant ERDL is going to be a challenge though unless your a small guy. Your also going to pay a pretty penny, Ebay is going to be your best bet for it.

@woodsranger200711 жыл бұрын
The choc chip wins bya hair or leaf. The splotchy dark brown breaks up profile better and creates a natural looking shadow. The DTS is slightly lighter but did well with the gray brush.
@Brent033111 жыл бұрын
Yeah, The dark reddish brown in the 6 color desert is what is doing the trick for it in this environment. I was playing with 3 color desert today and its tan is just too bright, without the dark red brown like six color it just doesn’t blend in very easily.

Desert tiger stripe was reasonably effective but I still think chocolate chip was the most effective. In my opinion desert tiger would be great for hunting in marshes and open grasslands because throughout the video I noticed it excelled the most in the dead yellow grass.
@Brent033110 жыл бұрын
Its pretty effective here in the fall/winter, I usually either wear ATACs AU, Desert Tiger or 6 color desert during that time of year.

It wasn't ever a main stream pattern, however, many CIA SAD guys wear it, as well as some Green Berets, SEALs, and SAS guys. It saw quite a bit of use in the Persian Gulf, most SEALs would go for this instead of the chocolate chip or DCU camo, as they believed it to be more effective. It's still used here and there today.
