Great video! I feel like this underrated pedal would get used more if it didn’t fly under the radar so much. I suggested it to Mike Hayes when it came out and he ended up building a board around it.

I will admit the 5am was more applicable during the pandemic. Now that I'm back on late nights, it's mostly impossible for me. That being said, I quit alcohol for the time being. A little over 2 months ago, so I got an extra boost from that.

Hi Brent, thanks for the interesting video. I've just had the Smolder pedal and I'm enjoying exploring all the available tones. I was wondering if it would eventually be worth spending a lot of money on an Acoustasonic or does the Smolder pedal offer a similar range and quality of effects??

Thanks for watching Matt! I think that the smolder shines when fed an acoustic signal, whether it’s the acoustic setting on an acoustasonic or a reg acoustic. So you don’t need one for the other to sound good. All about dialing into your preferences, but it is an awesome pedal.

Hey! Found this by searching for the opposite, a pedal to make an electric somehow sound acoustic (short of a midi setup). Now I forgot about that and instead want this, not just because it's a good pedal (clearly it is) but because you know how to make it shine. Good luck buddy with your channel, for what you bring to the table you ought to have hundreds of thousands of subs and the only irritation you'd have to endure is retrieving every day a bunch of boxes of free stuff companies want you to demo. Being as this is the real world, it seems you have no shortage of competition from elegant female guitarists who give the masses of what they want. Perhaps the AI for you to beat them at their own game is within reach... Back to pedals, for acoustic I'm a twelve string man. But due to physics or whatever, when I bend a pair of strings, one string will become a lil' sharper than the other, an ear sore. A pedal that could somehow sniff that out and squelch the sound of a competing, slightly deviating string, that would be pretty sweet. Of course, no one seems to notice but me, or seem disappointed if I solo without any bending, but I notice. Maybe it's an OCD thing and such a pedal would not sell, rare to see someone with a twelve string at all let alone plugged in, or it would be more economical for anyone like me to buy a double neck... That's long enough for one comment, thanks for the video and channel.

For an acoustic and if u want a distortion sound, this is the best I’ve found. It can get pretty gnarly.

I actually have! It’s pretty decent. But still I think it better suits the acoustic.

@@Dantespeako You're very welcome. It acts in the same way w/ acoustic or electric. So it really depends if you want to compress the signal or not.

@@brentbrownmusic from what I read, it does not function as compressor, but a pickup compensation that's supposed to deal with acoustic feedback issues 🙂

Sounds awesome! What kind of boost are you using and do you put it before or after the OD?

Thanks Rose! I didn’t use any boosts on this video. But for my other setup I’m using the Exotic Super Clean Mini boost. For this setup when I boost, it’s typically a light compressor boost in the HX Stomp.

What type of boost are you using with it? FET?

I believe I was using the kinky boost setting on my HX stomp. Might have just been a + volume automation too. I really dig the HX stomp for that kind of pick and choose optionality. Thanks for watching!
