Was this sponsored by Go pro? The bitrate of the 6 cant even handles grass. The Yi is almost double the bitrate and the Sony wins in many other ways. IN the water shots the GoPro cearly can't handle the detail of the water because of it's low bitrate. And overexposingh an imag does not equal more dyanmic range.
@waldtradition11666 жыл бұрын
Gavin completely agree. Yes, because GOPro definitively needs some good advertisers and sponsers. Who buys something for 500$ if he can get pretty much the same for 300$ where the app is actually working and one doesn't need to have internet to be able to use the gopro app...???

Brent Rose, i appreciate the detailed video. Right now im trying to get an action camera for my family vacations, pretty much every thing and anything. My budget is 150$, if you could recommend a action camera close to my price range, which camera would you personally recommend?
@shaunmatthews96806 жыл бұрын
I'm going to the USA and Canada during November and December. I need an action cam for vlogging. I see there's comparisons for day time and sunset and sunrise, However I need something that's going to take amazing footage at night. Whether it be in Miami or Vegas or even seeing the northern lights in yellowknife in Canada. Which one should I go?
@BrentRose6 жыл бұрын
Shaun Matthews unfortunately no action cameras are good at night. They all have the same small image sensors which don't pick up much light. You would be better off with a larger camera.

I have 3 GoPro´s thats in active use and happy with them. That out of the way I am no expert by any means here but if the camera can film in a "flat"-color profile, with no in-camera color correction whatsoever. That camera can be a force to be reckon with, no matter the pricetag or reputation. Its in post-editing and what you can do with the pictures there that is important IMO. Intresting video however, thanks for sharing!

It looks like they can be easily matched by adjusting the exposition. All of them use the same Sony sensor, or a very similar one. But I liked Sony better, from those images.

@PeterEk317 жыл бұрын
Both GoPro and Sony is good. But for me i chose the Sony because of the better stabilization that is crucial for a action cam. I have the GoPro 4 silver edition, i hate it. It is my worst camera ever bought, and only good for under water videos, on land the quality isn´t good enough, and it is not useful at all as a acition cam because it is insanity shaky hand held. so i tend to always shot with my Sony rx100 mk3 that has way better colors and in low light many divisions higher quality.
@luttekikker7 жыл бұрын
Sony is the winner here, even with worse shadow details. The blown out highlights are worse than under exposed shadows. You can work around that....but not work around overexposed highlights.

Ptolemy336VV you have x3000? There is no sharpness settings :p if someone use cam with lens issue compare to another cam (fresh new from shop) to show what is better, that mean is something going on. How can these people below praise the Sony? It's by far the worst camera in this review as far as detail and color are concerned, and is much more complicated to use unlike the Hero 6, the Gopro has since fixed the stabilization issues via software updates and is the most detailed and best overall camera in this video, the Yi is a good camera also, but is not as simple to use and does not have the best overall picture quality as the Gopro, which is in my opinion the biggest factor. Just look at the rocks in this video.
@luttekikker7 жыл бұрын
It depends on what you are looking for. The GoPro is not that detailed in other review video's when using stabilization. To me, blown highlighs (like the GoPro) are a No go for me. Yes, the Sony performs worse in shadows, but for those that want to use it during the day when there is enough light AND the best stabilized video (it's a sportscamera for crying out loud) the Sony does it's main porpose the best of all.
