BRENTWOOD is a new real estate development in the country of Trinidad and Tobago. Central Trinidad is where Brentwood is located just East of Chaguanas and South of Lange Park. Properties in Brentwood are in the higher real estate range. It is still being built up but we are going to visit it in this video and see what is there. The area of Brentwood brings a 'touch' of the USA to the island. What do I mean by that? Watch the video to hear my opinion and voice yours in the comments area below of this video.

What do you think about the BRENTWOOD development? Does Brentwood picture similar places in North America or not?

It's a Great attempt at creating a modern housing and comercial development in one. I also just love the professional centre

It will be nice to see how it looks upon completion. I just hope they do not end up giving into too much commercialization and then it turns out to be like Lange Park where some parts are nice and other parts are run down.

Honestly, I think it looks like hundreds of the North American developments that try to pass off mediocre design and engineering as being beautiful or even useful. Prioritizing car-less public transportation is the beginning of creating better designs and better developments. If not it’ll keep looking very American. That’s not good.

Edinburgh (500) is the biggest residential area in Chaguanas (by FAR). It consists of a couple private developments well, you need to drive much more inside....it's the "Diamond Vale" of central essentially.

Thanks for the drive tru ... only seen it from the highway side! Looks like the residents' need will be catered for, so they won't have to come out to get to amenities! That could well be the North American way! Self contained!

Very modern which I like, but honestly the money you're paying to rent or own land in places like these, I would much rather buy a 5 acres in the countryside with lots of fruit and ornamental trees and build a nice house in the middle.

Brad, I know where you are coming from, that is what I would like to do, however getting to and from the countryside is quite a struggle on these roads. Someone working in town would pay more in fuel and vehicle repairs UNLESS there is no need to leave the countryside. This is why I believe some are willing to pay extra.

@@JBsManCave I would say it depends on the area. For example a place like Brazil. Not too far from the highway and the roads aren't bad at all. Now if you're working in Port of Spain, peak hours, you're not in much traffic from Brazil until you're around Trincity or Macoya. To contrast, coming from Brentwood, peak hours you're still facing two hours of traffic to and from POS, so how much more money or time you're spending coming from a place like Brazil may not be that much. But I get that many people like the idea of living in the built up areas and heading to Massy in their pajamas etc 😂. I'll take the peace, quiet and lots of land over that any day, but our differences is what makes the world an interesting place.

Brad, yes, good points. I do mention how bad the traffic planning is in the central area. Those traffic lights from UWI to the airport really slow things down. I can't think of anyplace but Trinidad and Tobago where there are numerous traffic lights on a highway. Thanks for watching.

@@JBsManCave True, I heard Rohan Sinannan saying that they're planning a major overpass in Macoya that would eliminate all traffic lights from Maloney to UWI. I'm yet to understand how that would work but I am optimistic!

Brad, you see that current octopus by Bamboo... plans for that were drawn in the late 70s and it was only realized after 40 years so I would not hold my breath over that one. Then there is Chaguanas which needs more overpasses not just one and then you have to drive miles before you get to the next one. Then there are the thousands of potholes... then... then... then... 😉

I enjoy every bit of it especially my 82 year old mother, these homes I hope it will be a pattern like North American homes and be maintained if home owners association fees are paid . Areas looks nice in Trinidad and ten years after run down. Seems like these homes are millions of dollars. I hope one day you will tour Edinburg five hundred in the future thanks for the videos
