Do you agree with Bret Hart? Let us know in the comments below!
@ModernDayRenaissanceMan8 ай бұрын
I think he is giving HHH way too much credit. The guy wasn't with Steph yet, & while Shawn had pull due to his relationship with the Kliq, they were gone, & it was basically HBK - who was screwing up left & right all the time politicking by himself. Now it's POSSIBLE that HHH - was always the smart one - & that's the reason why he is where he is today, & due to being the sober one, acted as "The Voice" of HBK & a liaison. Perhaps Bret isn't conveying that very well or it's cut off due to this not being the full interview. I can definitely see where he is coming from & imo Bret Hart is the original CM Punk. A straight guy that always gets screwed because he doesn't want to play ball the way everyone else does. I'm very much like that myself IRL - I've LITERALLY sued my employers & gotten fired because I refused to commit crimes or "fall in line" the way they did. I've won settlements etc but at the end of the day - I'm also considered "A problem person" & more alone because of it & there are careers I can't go back to because of that as well. I think it takes one to know one. So I'm always very happy when I see a Bret Hart, a Punk etc come out on top. Imagine waiting as long as they have to be proven right? I'm still waiting for my day to come. I think I'm close. I still have a very big enemy I have to get rid of. They are an inspiration to me in that regard.

I love the "he should have done the job" while ignoring all the backstage BS at the time Shawn was pulling. Shawn was an absolute POS garbage person at that time. Why was Bret obligated to do the job for that clown? He offered to drop it to anyone else. But Vince refused. And I'm sure Shawn n Triple H were pulling strings the whole time to undercut Bret. Bret only speaks the truth. HHH and HBK are absolute manipulators. Just like Vince. It's heartbreaking to hear Bulldog getting screwed. It was sad to see Owen totally wasted after Bret left. 1997 was the best year in WWF history, and the Hart Foundation was a huge reason why. It would have been a far better story to have seen Austin go through the Foundation, eventually going over Bret at WM 14. 1998, and 1999 could have been used as a chance to have the Rock, Shamrock, Edge, Christian, Angle all work with the Foundation. The illusion of wrestling would have been maintained. Maybe Bulldog gets a few more years. Maybe Owen is still alive. And maybe more modern day fans would understand that the guys from Stampede ( Dynamite, Davey Boy, Bret, Anvil, etc) built alot of the WWF and are far more relevant than someone like an HBK or HHH.

Only thing is, Bret was reportedly very much against the attitude era which Shawn & HHH pushed for. WWF was getting clobbered by WCW, I think WWF did what they had to do and wouldn't have won the Monday night wars without it. Absolutely Owen would still be alive today if Bret hadn't left. Owen was getting buried because neither Shawn or HHH wanted to work with him so he was relegated to the mid card. (I can understand why Austin wouldnt want to work with him after the piledriver gone wrong) Bret would have stood up for Owen and even if he didn't succeed in getting him out of the mid card, he definitely would have talked him and management out of that stupid stunt. The sad thing is maybe Bulldog might have lived if he hadn't have gone to WCW, he was starting to get control of his drug & roid use, but injured his back in WCW because they didn't tell anyone about a trap door that was set up in the ring and he hit it. It lead to him relapsing. But hard to say, he had so many demons the damage may have already been done.

He mentioned in his book also, there was a night in 97 where HHH was booking RAW, he scheduled Bret to win the IC title from the Rock. Bret went to Vince and Vince overruled HHH with Bret having convinced him that the Rock was a future star and needed to keep the belt. So Rock retained by DQ. HHH & HBK were always trying to bury him cause they knew he was a threat to their spotlight.

I agree with Bret!!! Hunter was young and had one hell of an ego!! Looking back Triple H is probably the Jay-Z of WWE!!! He was willing to Take shots or knock off any of the best wrestlers at that time to eventually become THE MAN himself!

Does anyone the expression on harts face when talking about the spitting on shawn michaels. He says its accident that he spit in shawns face over the plan to spit on his shirt. He doesnt sound like what hes saying is completely truthful

There was a way to do the bulldog vs hbk match without Davey looking like a tool. Hunter and Shawn buried him with no rebuttal. Shawn could’ve gotten dq’d and kept the belt but he wanted to look good and didn’t care what it costed

and Thats why you never kill yourself for someone elses company. I mean the point is to work your way to the top well the top is Vince's spot. Triple H just now got given the top spot because Vince is old and apparently a super sleeze. Bret was solid always Canadian wrestlers are the Best hands down

I’ve had about enough of Bret looking g for every way he thinks he was slighted. I don’t doubt that some things happened that weren’t great, but clearly he thinks extremely highly of himself and assumes anyone that ended up with more career success than him somehow screwed him.

The issues Bret and Shawn has was a lot due to ego. The fact is that they both wanted to be the best. They both knew the other had enough talent to match the other. Yeah Shawn was a huge asshole even admitted as much himself. But deep down they both knew back then, both of them wanted to be the best in that ring. These days I don't think they really care all that much anymore. But back then they did care. They were obsessed about being better than the other. Which is a shame. Because in that ring they were the very best WWF (back then) had to offer.

This is the problem with Bret he wants things to go how he thinks it should go. He forgets it's a business where you work to perform scripts the way they wrote them to go. That's like me working as an actor in a movie and telling the screenwriter no that's not the way it should be when that person is the one who wrote the whole story. He's kinda selfish.

Is he wrong though? We can only take his word for it he doesn't seem like a type of person to lie or be pretentious. Everyone else he talks about pretty much just seems to side with their own side of the story. At the end of the day it sounds like Bret got done dirty in his later stages of his career.

Bret was the worst kind of backstage politician. The one that masks himself as righteous. He was as self serving, and egomaniacal as they come. But like a true narcissist, he's never wrong. It's always someone elses fault.
