Filipino has a taste bud for everything extreme, salty, sweet, spicy, and sour. :D. The trick is to be able to mixed all those flavor into one meal. Like bulad and suka or bulad and tomatoes (salty and sour) and the most important part to balance the flavor is RICE.

True! One thing I have noticed here in Canada is that the food are mostly bland, I mean the taste is pretty neutral considering my taste bud as a Filipino, I am usually inclined to extreme flavors.

Champorado is sticky rice cooked like pooridge and tablea or raw dark chocolate with some sugar .. You can use coco sugar or muscovado healthy sugar and a little milk or coconut milk o If available for me is more yummy.. The more tablea the better .. We usually eat this on breakfast with fried tuyo (broken into small bits or pieces .. Scales are removed)

Watching from Sydney, Australia ! 👋Bret, your mum’s reaction with the dried fish is okay. We are not offended. My kids we’re the same when i get them to try first time. Then later on they liked it too. It really goes well with garlic fried rice and spicy vinegar. Next time you can get her to try again. But never cook the dried fish indoors. 😄Your mum will hate you for it. There’s a lot of Filipino asian shop in Vancouver, look for “Tuyo” in a jar . It is fried tuyo and then soaked in spiced oil. You dont have to fry tuyo again. Its ready in the jar. Its not crunchy but its not soggy either. Also, you can get the filipino vinegar in Asian shop and all you do is chop onion, garlic and add chilli and salt to it. It taste better as it aged. There are filipino restaurants in Vancouver too.i think there is one called Pinpin restaurant. Who knows maybe there is a Bitbit restaurant too😊. Love you Bret & Butter and now your mum and your sister too. Great family 😍
