You can see in this video how happy Brett makes him. she was the one person who actually helped Matt get past Gabby. Gabby was such a big part of his life and he is the kind of person to love someone so much that a lot of his world revolves around them. So when that suddenly disppeared he didn't know what to do or feel. But Brett came in not trying to be in a relationship with him just being his friends and making him laugh and just having fun. She made him see there is more to life than love and made it known it was okay to make mistakes with relationships.
