Tackles in general are in a no-win situation. If a Tackle gives up two sacks in a game, everyone focuses on them and ignores the twenty or thirty plays in which he successfully kept his man away from the QB. If a Tackle give up no sacks, no-one notices the fact that he was on the field at all.

As a Brit who’s enjoyment of the NFL is ever growing (and a Seahawks fans since a boy) I would like to say how much I got from this video. I find gaining a deeper understanding of the nuances of the game a real challenge. I know enough to enjoy and follow a game but what the offensive and defensive lines are up to has always seemed a mystery. I listen to game day commentators and watch what the NFL pundits say closely yet somehow they seem to just muddy the whole thing in more obscure terms and a rapid fire delivery such that I go away still scratching my head. The piece by piece breakdown of that Denver sack however was perfect for me, methodical and clear. As was the rest. (I also have a little more hope for the ‘hawks now than a week ago!) So, great stuff, here’s hoping the rest of the channel gives me as much. Subbed!

I'm surprised that you didn't preface this discussion by mentioning that the Seahawks' O-Line was put in the un-enviable task of starting the season against perhaps the two best pass-rushing defenses in the league, with the number one and number two best pass-rushing players in the league (Miller and Mack). They aren't likely to face pressure that overwhelming for the rest of the season.

@connerwolstenholme15266 жыл бұрын
Eli started to suck in 2011 and the o line just sucks. Good receivers and a good running back can’t help Eli from inaccurate passes. I think that they should have drafted a quarterback better than Webb last year, a player like Watson or sign Alex Smith. Then draft Barkley
@thew18286 жыл бұрын
While the giants o line isn’t great, Eli isn’t the real problem, it’s the teams offensive play calling and offensive miscommunications between players, Eli and the giants receivers just aren’t always on the same page look at the last two games that the giants have won, the team chemistry and play calling have been better and the giants look and play like a better team now because of it

I very apprehensive at first to click on the video at first because I hate to see my team suffer but this breakdown has changed my thinking about the o line play. I agree with right tackle being way below average and the fact that it’s bad game planning to not help your weakest lineman. Russ also has to be better. Got to pick up on those blitz to get the route adjusted. And I want better game planning to help our tackle since we’re stuck with him for now. Great analyzing and thanks for a different outlook.

Welp, for the most part it's fixed finally, Duane Brown became a 2nd Team All-Pro this year along with notching his 2nd pro bowl. Fluker is finally coming into his own as a Lineman as he started around 14 games last year and was a HUGE contributor in the Run Game. Also with the added Run Game it takes pressure of Russell as he only passes during play-action really. So yeah, problem mostly solved

One thing that Russell Wilson doesn't get enough blame for is that he struggles to move inside the pocket and he makes sacks much worse than they should. How many times when Russell Wilson gets sacked do you see him miss an opportunity to shift up or sideways in the pocket and instead abandon the pass and leave the pocket to run, find a player in his way, make a wide turn towards his end zone and run the other way instead of throwing it away. Look at that second sack that Brett analyzed. Russell takes the shotgun snap 5 yards from the line of scrimmage, drops back five more yards which eliminates his ability to step up because he's so deep, then he scrambles out of the pocket to his left and instead of throwing the ball away or taking a sack he turns back towards his end zone, right into another rusher, and loses ten more yards making a bad 10 yard sack into a 21 yard sack.

Haven't finished the video yet, but my takeaways as a Hawks fan from the first two games are: *Ifedi is pretty bad regardless of being matched up with Miller and Mack. It's important to remember he isn't one of the trademark Cable projects where some guy with tools is being molded on the fly into a tackle. He was a first round pick. In year three, he needs to perform better *Wilson is slow, both with movement and reaction speed. He's 30 now so the style of play that worked for him so well in the past will not nearly be as reliable in the future. He's in the late-era McNabb stage of his career *Schottenheimer is a hack, as the previous 8 seasons of his OC career have already proven but apparently weren't enough to dissuade the front office *The rest of the line is fine to good. Brown and Britt are legitimate Pro Bowlers, while guys like Sweezy and Pocic are at least servicable. The only real weak link is Ifedi.

Another great video. 1 very small and subtle change I would suggest for you is to dampen the room you are recording in. Your mic quality is far superior to what it was when you started but I still hear a slight echo to your vocal which lessens your presence. If you try to put a few pillows/mats/duvets in the room to cover any hard surfaces like tiles, varnished hard wood, etc. it should stop any vocal reverb and therefore make your voice sound top notch. Your delivery is brilliant by the way. Always enforces your point and you don't sound like you're scripted. Very natural! :) Keep up the good work! :)

Great video yet again. Seems like one of the worst mistakes an organization can make is what Seattle has done recently: You have a no-brainer franchise QB, and he has serious scrambling skills, so you stop focussing on the o-line as much in the draft and trades--when in fact, that's exactly the time you need to double down on the o-line. How many times have we seen this? When has any team ever gotten away with it?
