You're one of the few I know of that saddles from the right side. It makes no sense to walk around twice when you can do it once. I also slide my pad back to last the hair down flat. I'm new to mules after years of team roping. I got squirrel dogs, after breaking my femur, to strengthen my right leg so that hard right from heading wouldn't turn me into a lawn dart. Now I enjoy my fiest more than roping. So much so that, at 64 years old, I bought them a mule. Hey, we bought longhorns for our roping horses, people buy sheep for their border collies... Why not? I also ride a modified association tree so that's good to know an experienced mule man has had good service with one on your mules. Enjoy your channels, rides, and philosophy. Keep up the good videos Bret. Sincerely, Clay. From Northeast Alabama, foothills of the Appalachians.

I tie my cinches up on the right side .. was taught that as a kid keep them out of the brush and dirt .. tack room is on the right side don't need to walk around .. lots a reasons to saddle from that side .. and I use to rope too .. and a lot .. here you go watch this kzbin.info/www/bejne/faG8mWOHg9V1m9Esi=bZhB5YMh_wnS2lmO

Yep. I galled my mule once, as you say ,cinch slipped forward, I wasn’t paying attention. Started out with the right 4”” + behind her elbow….we learned. First and only mule, many horses….thinking on mules again 🤔. Good video Brett. Thanks again 🤠👍🏻

Great video Brett. Been looking for something to replace my heavy working saddle and this’ll give me some ideas to think about. I debated about going with a slick fork to save some weight but I still like having some swells to tuck up under.

Want to see more - what’s in those paniers ! Specially how and where do you store the water in it. On others videos of yours it seems that you hang them to the saw buck cross. Carrying water on a pack animal is quite challenging - aussies know that better than anybody’s. I like the authentic style of yours. No bullshit but real things that work through the country. Hunting lions through the wild must be something. We can’t do that here in Europe - no lion and even so, you may miss the lion and shot the neighbor next to you ! Keep on !

I really enjoyed this video!...Although I ride and hunt off mules often I'm not very experienced at packing...I'm still trying to figure out a good way to pack a bear out whole...a cadaver bag is the best iv found so far but in rough country I still have to adjust multiple times...is there any better or different way? I'm looking forward to part 2!
@BrettVaughnB100

I will get to the pack video soon I hope .. surely there is a hitch a guy could tie between the legs and around the head to secure the bear .. ? cadaver bag looks kinda spooky I bet lol

@@BrettVaughnB100 I'm sure someone has figured out something but iv tied a whole roll of paracord, 10 dogleads, two lead ropes and hitched all kinds of hitches and 30 minutes later Cletus is stained red and I'm adjusting again...(maybe im Exaggerating a little) but that's kinda how it goes haha.. The mules like the cadaver bag better than just a plain bear but I'm still looking for a better option...(still better than dragging though)
