Just made my first batch of air fry potatoes fries in my Breville. I used the basket and placed them is a single layer. When I took them out I saw the part of the fries facing down, was white... not cooked. I uses super convection, 20 minutes, 400F I put the drip pan at the bottom, wondering if that was my problem
@NutmegNotebook2 жыл бұрын
There are so many variables, how big the potato slices are, how wet the potatoes are, the drip pan may has obstrocted the air flow. You have to exxperiment and find just the right time for your conditions and how moist your potatoes are. It's definately a learning curve but you'll perfect it and figure out. Keep trying.

@GermanBadGuy3 жыл бұрын
@@NutmegNotebook Bar cleaners friend is abrasive after all, so the coating would be damaged in the long run, just as a heads up. Aren't the heating elements also get dirty once you air fry something you marinated or oiled up? How do you deal with that?
@scottd13427 ай бұрын
@@NutmegNotebook Another trick to clean the crumb/ drip tray is to use baking soda. Make a paste and leave it on for about 30-60 min. Scrub it off with a nylon pad (not steel) and it looks brand new again.

Tami, thx for the vid! I was wondering if you’ve had any issues with the Breville? I’ve been a little reluctant to put this on the ‘must have’ list. The majority of complaints regarding the Breville is related to the door. It’s enough of a consistent complaint that I’m not on board. Thx!

We did have a problem with our door and Breville replaced the unit under warranty immediately. There has been a redisign of that component so I think they have solved that issue. There warrranty is 2 years and thier customer service has been great..

Hi Tami, I have not been able to get my French fries crunchy at all using fresh potatoes. I’ve tried various times, temps and methods (soaking the cut potatoes in water for 30 mins first) but my fries never come out crunchy. Any suggestions for me? You use baked potato because you like the flavor better but is that also the trick to making the fries crunchy? I use a little olive oil to coat the potatoes but it hasn’t helped. Any help you can offer would be fabulous! Thank you!
@NutmegNotebook6 жыл бұрын
We like the flavor and texture better using cold ore baked potatoes. Also russets seem to make better fries. If you leave them in long enough they get crunchy. Give my method a try!
@MaryFrangie6 жыл бұрын
Nutmeg Notebook thank you for your reply! I will try your method using a precooked potato and especially a russet. It’s a shame to have to cook them twice, it uses so much energy not to mention time. Your videos are great and instructive, thank you, but I still have questions, lol! Thanks a lot!

All restaurants double fry their French fries to get them crunchy. Boiling first works a# well. I bake my whole potatoes at the same time that I am roasting something else. Then i use the leftovers for fries the next day.
