Castle and Key is by far the best tour I have been on (out of 12 or so). They show you the entire process from water to rickhouse and the buildings and grounds are amazing. HIGHLY recommend it if you are in the area.

Castle and Key is a great facility. I had the opportunity to get a tour before it was fully open to the public years back and had an opportunity to return to see the finished product last year. The amount of time and money they dumped into the facility is unreal.

Wife and I visited last year. Beautiful facility! Unfortunately, we had a staff member that was quite rude to us, but still enjoyed the visit. Their Cask Strength Wheated Bourbon is delicious! I'm on the lookout for the cask strength rye finished in VDN barrels.

Really like your channel and videos. WAS a pretty much exclusive Bourbon drinker prior to approx. age 50 ( 12yrs ago ) until I "revisited" Irish whiskey via an after-dinner Coffee (ive been on a mission to try as many Brands as I can afford ever since (lol) ). Redbreast 12 Cask Strength was a BIG hit for me ( tbh the price / avail. keep me from making it my "regular" go-to (lol). My runners up (price considered) include Redbreast 12 (NON cask strength), Teelings Small Batch, Kilbeggan Small Batch Rye, Powers Gold Label, AND on the "lite" (ABV, age wise side) and most affordable and great tasting (for the price imo so-far): Paddys. My sampling search continues and so far im happy to report that not a dud was discovered in the "sampling"; and there were a few more Distillers that didnt make the list here. Again, great Channel. The Distillery "deep dives (if You will)" make the vids great (for me, anyway). 👍🥃

It’s a bit out of your normal hunting areas, but next time you’re in western Kentucky you should visit a place called “Barrelheads” in Owensboro, KY. They may not have any allocated at the time, but they have a phenomenal bourbon/scotch wall, and an amazing tasting bar that’s reasonable. CHEERS!!

For all the non-bourbon drinkers who are attached to a bourbon nut, this is your #1 place to go on the entire trail. They have tons of other spirits for purchase and sampling. As you can see, the facility is absolutely massive and sprawling. Beautiful stuff for sure. Going to BT, CK, and WR when you go to Frankfort definitely seems to be the top three. Not too far of a drive away is also Four Roses, and you're maybe an hour from OF, Michter's, and others like my personal favorite right now in Peerless in Louisville. It's a good experience.

We went to Castle and Key last year on the day we were heading back home. Went back over Thanksgiving weekend this year and finally did the tour. Phenomenal place! Ive been following their stuff for awhile now, I enjoy alot of the stuff Marianne Eaves (I know she's not there anymore) does. Beautiful place! Can't get over them charging a dollar per cherry for their Old Fashioneds though.

@apeekintime11 сағат бұрын
Fancy story about the distillery - but we all know exactly why the current brand decided to open those doors again. They saw the old Taylor Distillery as a easy way to use the clout of BT's brand to help increase sales quickly. Expensive endeavor, for sure, but that's the only reason why they bought that property instead of doing something more cost effective. It's basically a marketing expense to buy the old Taylor facility and reopen it with your label. I hope Castle and Key eventually makes good whiskey but I don't think they timed this very well. Their juice is STILL fairly young and everyone else is releasing higher age statements - even craft. They probably are in a massive red hole on the P&L and they are hoping Sazerac will buy them.
