@stuartpaul99956 жыл бұрын
I think he`s delusional but he`s only one amongst many. What I`m more concerned about is the impact of those delusions on daily life, It`s becoming more and more evident that Brexit will be an economic disaster. Isn`t it time to start considering the consequences of its consequences? Historically the usual results of economic chaos are the rise of extremist politicians and ideologies. Repression , `dissidents` locked in football stadiums, disappearances, assassinations , torture, racist extremism, and often even outright war We`re wondering about trade deals in Africa when the real danger could be a Britain being run by a conglomerate of its extremists. Sleazy lying spivs from UKIP with their ingratiating `man of the people ` manner that reminds everyone of Jimmy Saville, thugs from drunken racist football hooligan gangs, White power neo nazi cretins, and loonies who rant nonsense about Kalergi Plans and zionist conspiracies. You think the present government is mediocre, how would you like your country run by that lot? Before you tell me I`m exaggerating, consider David Copeland and Thomas Mair, the calls for `strong leadership` and the rise in hate crimes, . These are the symptoms of a rise of what exactly? The consequences of Brexit will be disastrous, but the consequences of that disaster could well be even worse. Bear in mind that the last time there was an economic meltdown in a European country it caused the greatest tragedy the world has ever known and 60 million deaths. So Britain, quo vadis?

+Matthew Shrubsole Well, Churchill was a great leader during WW2 but before and after he really wasn't a good politician. His involvement in Sudan and Gallipoli is also questionable (to say the least). Thatcher was a strong leader, but that doesn't mean she was good. Yes, the economy had to modernise and the unions were very strong, but she oversaw those changes and caused widespread suffering for huge numbers of people. It paved to way for the bullshit we're currently living in. I don't know why you're so pissed off with Cameron in particular. He is a cunt, obviously, but it was his decision to give us a referendum. The pig-fucker just happened to be the one that fucked everything up so bad it gave us an opportunity to Leave. I'm not surprised by how things have gone. The vast majority of parliament don't want to leave and they're supposed to represent the majority. Of course it's in their interest to fuck it up.

52% of people voted to leave the EU because journalists care more about trying to dumb down society by telling them to care about talentless celebs, than telling people about how Tories and ex Tories in UKIP want to leave so they can treat most people worse. So there's nothing in the way of upper classes, bankers and corporations making more money, at expense of others. People think Nigel Farage has the best interests of British people just because UK is in UKIP, when he's an ex banker living in another country who pays his foreign wife on tax payers expenses and was found to be hiding money in foreign tax havens. Somebody would ask people to look at USA section in supermarket, and see EU compliant labels over original USA ones, to see as they don't have to label as much in USA then the food is more likely to contain junk. Reese's Pieces alone contain GM ingredients and colourings which cause hyperactivity in children. Nigel Lawson whose foreign family changed their name like Boris Johnson's to sound more British, helped closely link our economy with USA in the 80s relying on many being in debt, after they made millions unemployed, for economy to crash by early 90s so they could use as excuse to make many suffer, such as after they stole and sold off most social housing without using money to build more, they made 18 year old in bedsit pay same poll tax as Lord in a manor, VAT increases, taking away old people's free eye tests, while they gave the rich tax cuts. Nigel Lawson was advising us to leave the EU while he applies to live in France

Right on Pat! Mr. Condell mentions Trump in the beginning, the Trump vote. This video and his comments makes clear what is going on in England is analogous to what is going on here in the US. Although Pat speaks of it in terms of 'Democracy' and the democratic vote, and as Pat is British, the sovereign individualism of the US Republic is or at least was one step ahead and more grounded in the rights of the individual. To give credit though, rooted in the English/Scottish political enlightenment. This is a very powerful commentary by a very competent classical liberal commentator. And again analogous to what is happening politically in the US today. The Progressive tide has turned and is receding. The Progressives are left screaming and their private parts are being exposed for what they are. Ugly and hateful and divisive, anti-individual rights freedom robbing socialist thugs that they are. The good news is, it looks like a solid majority of sensible people both in Britain and the US are expressing their desire for a change for the better. We have had enough. And its thinking like that will keep the shackles on the UK. Stand up take a breath and realise that the UK stood on its own two feet right up until 1975. Yes, the economy will struggle initially but when you can choose your marketplace you can recover, Has the last two recessions not taught you anything? It doesn't work. When you have working families going to food banks the system is broken. Time to change. The prob is that most are brainwashed into thinking there is nothing better out there. Do you honestly think the likes of big car manufacturers are not going to want our business, Just one example, and yes it may mean that some industries pull out of the UK, but that is when the UK does what it has always done? It will grit its teeth and stand up and pull up its breeches and say right let's sort this shit out. Leavers majority are uneducated. Remainers majority are educated. Those are facts and stats. You are hurt about it but it's just facts. Leavers want to cover their ears and pretend all the warnings that experts are talking about regarding the fallout of brexit is just "project fear" and scare mongering. You don't want to acknowledge the consequences of brexit. We'll see how it goes when Britain actually crashes without a deal and thousands of jobs are lost when companies leave.
@johnosborne43746 жыл бұрын
See, all you've really come up with there is "we were ok before 1975 (one of the most ludicrous arguments any brexiteer can put forward, as it has absolutely no bearing on anything current) and "Britain will sort it out". How exactly? You all seem to be the experts. How? With "deals"? You do understand the complexity of operating under WTO rules and negotiating deals with individual countries? I assume you know it takes quite a long time? You do understand all the deals lost through a "no deal" brexit, which will inflate costs drastically in the short term while those "deals" get negotiated? You do realise that the EU will of course not want to give the UK (who are currently backing out of a deal) any concessions on deals? Given the way the UK has behaved during the whole ordeal, do you think the deals will be favourable? I assume you understand how many UK businesses will got out of business with the infalted costs, wages, difficulty with the customs transitions etc etc. Loss of jobs, money from overseas. You want to talk about food banks? That's so insulting. Food prices will go up, costs will go up, unemployment will go up. You know this, and yet you're happy with it? "Britain will sort it out?" Tell that to the people who it's going to affect the most. Ask them, if they are confident in a government that couldn't come to an arrangement in 2 years of negotiations! Ask them, if they trust Boris Johnson is going to look after their best interests going forward while you all sit there gleaming about "sovereignty", blue passports and fish. You're all gamblers. Gambling with our futures. And you don't want the country, (49% mind you) to have a final say on where that leads. Whatever comes next, you asked for it. I hope your gamble is right.

Steve Sobot depends how naive you are whether you believe the EU ‘ethos’ or not. I just don’t feel like the guys invading Spain by the boat load in recent weeks are like-minded, freedom loving individuals, and whilst the EU is dictating that they *are* to come in, and they’re not doing *anything* to attempt to stop them, that’s not a club I want to be a part of. Call me small minded, call me a liar, but in recent years the number of rapes and attempted rapes/sexual assaults in my area have sky rocketed. The descriptions are rarely of natives either. The same goes for robberies and muggings. I’m aware we have our own criminals, but why does that mean we should take everyone else’s? My area actually already had twice the saturation of migrants ‘permitted’ by probably less than 3 months into the crisis. That was 2/3 years ago. Lord knows what it’s like now. These aren’t people who work, they’re rarely women and children, they don’t integrate at all and before you say they’re refugees... Did they not pass Jordan, UAE, Turkey to get here, where they wouldn’t even have to change their way of life, they could quite easily assimilate. That’s before going through Germany, France etc. It’s just silly to be perfectly honest. How does being in the EU = Arabian/African ‘refugees’? Why are the European countries not allowed to protect their borders from invaders?
@stevesobot53726 жыл бұрын
Hi Jamobu, what you describe is indeed a problem, and I agree that the EU has been very slow to tackle this issue adequately. However, this type of problem is still better (more fairly) handled in a coordinated way by the larger collective rather than by individual countries.That is, if there is some form of consensus regarding a fair and generally acceptable approach. Here again, I concede that the EU has difficulty in reacting in a timely and acceptable manner for its member states. But this should be a stimulus for working harder to improve things (even structurally) within the community. In any case, not an adequate reason for leaving the club and in so doing sending a "we're out of this" message to the world.

I will admit that, I voted remain 2 years ago. But this was only because my friends did and I’d seen them sharing articles about how leaving the EU would be a terrible mistake. On the day it was announced that Britain was leaving the EU, my Facebook page was absolutely poisonous, with almost all my friends complaining bitterly about how older people had jeopardised everything and how they were racist and bigoted. I was even invited to a protest called "Liverpool stays", which never happened. So, yeah, I voted remain because I listened to my friends, which just goes to show how naive and blinkered I was in University. The fact that they crumbled and threw their toys out of the pram the moment things didn’t go their way helped to red-pill me. So, I thank them for their childish immaturity that helped me dodge a bullet.

I’m in Liverpool, but not part of the actual Liverpool constituency, ( sounds strange I know) and my constituency voted leave, so did many others. Others voted remain but that protest name sounds like they thought Liverpool voted remain all together.
@dogdayaftertaste6 жыл бұрын
Wolf Kenton 58.2% of people in Liverpool voted to remain part of the EU. This is a simple fact.
@APKHD026 жыл бұрын
dogdayaftertaste yes I do know that, but my constituency, Knowsley, which I’m sure everyone here still says they are from Liverpool. So from that perspective there are still Liverpool constituency’s or constituency’s in which the people still class themselves as from Liverpool that voted leave. I probably should have been more clear in what I was saying.

They need more than that, the elite need to be reminded that the power is with the public and not them, we give them legitimacy & power. The people of Europe need to show that we the people are not willing to sacrifice our Freedoms, Individual Rights, Economies, Sovereignties or Culture for their gain.

Agreed. has right. no need EU people in UK anymore. and no need EU anymore. We have to make trades with Africa and Asia only. No need EU people to work in UK anymore. We need only muslim and islamic people to come in UK to work and live. UK has to become an Islamic Kingdom. We also need an referendum to change the country name in Islamic Kingdom or Muslim Kingdom.

As Trump puts "America First", do you really think that he will accept a trade deal which concedes huge benefits to the UK at a cost to The USA. The EU has nine times the population and GDP than that of the UK, hence a much bigger potential market for the USA. He's going to give the EU a better deal. More for America. So the UK has to settle for much inferior terms of a potential trade deal, than it would if it negotiated a trade deal as a member of the EU, as it is a ninth of the potential market for the USA, than it would be combined with the rest of the EU. The reason that the EU doesn't have a comprehensive free trade deal with the USA is because the USA asks too much for the EU to swallow. The same is applicable in reverse, the USA cannot swallow what the EU demands as a roughly equal trade block. To think that the UK could negotiate a better deal with the USA than the EU could is naive in the extreme, bearing in mind "America First"
@Nathan-yk5km6 жыл бұрын
andypdq don’t talk shit. Trump has already expressed his disappointment that May hasn’t taken him up on his invitation to negotiate a deal. Just like everyone who has half a brain in the UK. 85% of the world’s trade occurs outside of the EU. In fact, we’d do well to take a leaf out of Trump’s book. Two years in power, and the US economy is the strongest it’s ever been. Have a look at the recent statistics. Employment is at an all time high. Business confidence is high. Just this week Obama has tried to take credit for the turn around in the economy, when in fact it was by way of Trump, and a portion of that was by him repealing crap that had been keeping the US economy on its arse for 8 years, put in place by Obama. Of course though he’ll be a racists, sexist, ‘cis’ white, straight male so whatever...
