Julian Assange, founder of the whistleblowing website Wikileaks, went to the High Court on 20 and 21 February in what could be his final bid to avoid extradition to the US. Assange, who has been in a UK prison since 2019, is wanted by the US for disclosing secret military files in 2010 and 2011. Wikileaks claims to have published more than ten million documents, including many confidential or restricted official reports related to war, spying and corruption. In 2010, it released a video from a US military helicopter which showed civilians being killed in the Iraqi capital Baghdad. These suggested that the US military had killed hundreds of civilians in unreported incidents during the war in Afghanistan.
