People who turn anything off after twenty minutes have no right to have an opinion. You can argue that films/books/etc should capture its audience straight away but that is so vanilla. @@babyboi1119 I don’t know how old you are? In 80s and 90s, some celebrities and global mainstream used to focus on world peace, pollution, population control, environment and such. That helped a generation realize that world sources are limited and we should focus on our environment. Although there were so many subjects to force governments and companies to use clean technologies and energy sources to protect nature, nothing worked and the majority still kept going on their destructive lifestyle. However, some people got evolved and deeply concerned about it. However, in the last 20 years, there’s almost no global organization that is promoted by the mainstream media and reach billions of people. Instead of that, people got social media. Started consuming and demanding more and more. As a result, to see a totally natural area is almost impossible today. Even in a country like Turkey, every way you look around you see a mine, a factory, buildings, highways and such. It’s disturbing that majority still don’t realize that our lives depend on the nature. This makes me angry and most of the times sad. Yeah, the movie made me cry too 😢 Last year, Greece and Turkey had multiple wildfires. Turkish government claimed that they didn’t have fire planes while 12 of then laying in the capital city. The fires could be ended in a couple days but it lasted for 2 weeks! They just watched entire forests turned to dust. The temperatures jumped to 50 Celsius which has never been experienced in history. Eventually, it turned out that fire zones already determined as mining search areas🤦♂️ the fucking politics and some Canadian-Turkish company behind all this shit. What we know about Socrates, we know thanks to one of his 'students' Plato. The ideas from one of the greatest minds have been distilled through the brain of another important 'thinker' of our species. Socrates is famous for encouraging people to doubt everything and everybody - even themselves. 'The only true wisdom is in knowing you know nothing!' One of the reasons why he was killed. Language is nothing but made up sounds and signs. Words have a meaning because we give them a meaning, ideas have power because we allow them to have power. It's true our species is superior in certain fields, but we aren't worth more than all the other Earthlings. At the end, we are nothing but cells, part of a bigger organism ... simply experiencing itself. Space travel is such a enticing fantasy, yet our bodies can only survive on this planet and only under certain circumstances.

The movie was done strangely different to your normal end of the world movie. It really showed how the elite were more interested in profit even if the world got destroyed and their lack of care for humanity. They also had a back up plan to escape which I'm glad it ended well for the toe-rags they are. The film was more of a message about the elite class and how they see the rest of us which is what's happening now. This movie is more about the apathy of the human race, and our leadership than it is about climate change. You could replace the meteor with any global crisis and the message would still be both the same and relevant. Take covid for example, replace the meteor with covid, and it’s a shocking personification of what’s happening right now. It’s a brilliant movie. 10/10 from me.

Every time I hear some well meaning person complaining about NASA'S budget or something similiar I want to puke especially if they then go on to say something about "saving" the environment. People need to understand the environment is not just the oceans, rainforests etc. The environment also includes the environment that the Earth exists in. The Earth orbits the Sun and as it orbits the Sun it is traveling through a cosmic shooting gallery. Every time throughout the year when we have one of the regular meteor showers it's because the Earths orbit and the orbital path of a dead comet intersect. And we have no idea if there are any larger bodies that are still left over from that comet. And those are just the comets whose orbits happened to intersect Earth's. There have to be other dead comets n the Solar System who's orbital paths do not insect the Earth's orbit. And that just comets. Add in the asteroids of different groups among them the known Earth crossing ones. When Shoemaker Levy hit Jupiter its impacts lit a fire under politicians. And six months later dropped of theirs and the public's radar. If in the future we have ability to do something about a coming impact and do not do anything we deserve what ever happens to us.
