In the world of fly fishing and fly tying that we live in currently where multiple people I have seen will tie a wholly bugger and then tell people they invented it. Keeping the legendary guys like Lefty is literally so important.

Definitely set up a Lefty day. He did a presentation at our fly tying club. He was warm, friendly and an incredible storyteller-and teacher. He was so good, I would pay serious money to attend if he gave a lecture on watching paint dry. I learned so much about fishing and tying from his writing and videos, I will be forever be in his debt.

Fishing videos that aren't necessarily about fishing can be amazing! I never knew the man.... but, the respect for his legacy is palpable. I think an industry wide "Holiday" in his name is more than appropriate!

Thanks for watching. We are working on that Holiday with then folks at Renzetti. Stay tuned.

Watched a video on Renzetti True Rotary with Lefty and Bob. What an absolute treat, we all have our idols and hero’s who guided us and helped us develop our skills to tie flies and fish. I hope you Ger the Lefty day in place and we can all use it to keep alive those significant people who helped us while doing the same for a whole new generation. I can imagine there’ll be people talking about you and maybe me when we’re gone when we do our bit now.

the first flies i learned to tie were the Clouser and Deciever, watching Lefty videos on VHS in the early 90s. That really meant something back then.

This wonderful video, along with your "shockingly" good instruction, is why I watch videos from Ohio even though I live half a continent away. Your shared love for Lefty and those insightful stories solidify my feeling that the iconic Mr. Kreh is a hero I should emulate in every little way I can attempt. I have a friend that is iconic in the world of fly angling. I still can't believe he thinks I am cool. Because, as the shirt I have from another channel accurately says, "I Suck At Fly Fishing." Thanks for this.

Lefty the technologist- personal story. In the late 90's I gave a talk about underwater grasses to a fishing club in Baltimore using a VERY newfangled LCD projector. This was before digital cameras were a thing, and talks were given mostly using a slide machine. As I talked I noticed an older guy paying very close attention. He was enthralled by my material, seemingly. After my talk he immediately came up to me to chat. I was delighted, fishermen usually don't care much about plants in the water. But after shaking my hand it became apparent that he could have cared less about my talk- he wanted to know all about the LCD projector. He wore me out asking every possible question about how I got the images in there and what program I had used and how much it cost. He wanted my business card so he could call me and ask questions about it later. After he walked off, the next guy to talk to me asked me "Do you know who that was." I did not, and of course it was Lefty!

I met Lefty in 1973 on Green Spring Creek in SC PA. He put on an absolute clinic fishing a Jassid.. It was as if the fish were fighting for the honor of being caught by Lefty. I still have the Jassids he gave me that day. A true gentleman.

I met Lefty at Miami boat boat show back in the early nineties with Stu Apt and had no idea who they were, my friend Sid Cougler later explained, the rest is history, what a great guy.

I was 5 years old at a Lefty Kreh fly tying clinic in 1993 with my dad in Maine. I fell asleep at the clinic and Lefty gave me the deceiver he tied, along with a business card dedicated to me saying “Tied by Lefty for Scotty.” We then had the deceiver and card framed together. It’s still on my wall. ☺️

Andy mill's podcast with Bob Popovics was quite interesting and during the interview Bob spoke of how he and Lefty spoke every Wednesday a few weeks before Lefty passed and he spoke of the early formative years of saltwater fly fishing and how important it was to have a accurate history of it . That seemed to be most important to him. Btw great video.
