Brian Gawiuk lived with his family in the community of Mount Cartier, between six and ten miles south of Revelstoke. Their family had to move their home to higher ground prior to the flooding of the Arrow Lakes Reservoir due to construction of Hugh Keenleyside Dam in the 1960s.
