I was 16 in 1962, what a decade. And thanks to you tube I can almost relive it. But so sad that the innocent boy meets girl angst seems to have disappeared. The music, the ambience, slim girls with no tattoos, who spent hours getting ready to see you, without a hair out of place. Where have they all gone.

My father was born on the first of october în 1950 în Romania and many years before to die, he told me of a gorgeous world in his teenage, and I've always felt about, as something only permitted to those young people. In the 90's he was already dissapointed by everything in the world and I couldn't understand him by then. But now, when I see how's the world going on, I only think of my father and I cry myself inside me: he was the only man in my life, but I didn't know It very well. Now It's too late to change everything. He died, victim of comunism, alcohol, and the lack of love and comprehension in his life. Poor my father. Too late I've understood him. But at least, I' ve understood him and I've forgave him, because of his bad behaviour with my mother and I. I LOVE❤ You Dad, wherever You are!!! Daniela❤❤❤

@@danielabarladeanu345 I'm really sorry about your father. Your father was maybe just too good and what disappointed with humanity and unfortunately I can understand him very well unfortunately humanity has no respect anymore and behaves worse than animals. However, i would never poison myself because other people are not good, but spend much more time with my family and feed on love and also give a lot of love, but every person deals with grief differently. You seem to be a good person and that is the result of your father and mother. May your father rest in peace❤️

@@fishingwithlee9519Thank You so much dear friend for answering me this way. Your very nice words tell the same about You ❤ My father was indeed a very good person and that's why I'm so fortnate. In the 80's, when I was 3 o 4 years old, he took me on bicycle rides, often singing "oh my darling, oh my darling, oh my darling Clementine!..." Now, I'm 46 and I remember him, above all, as a very nice and decent man, so lonely, and so sad, so misunderstood, that I just fell miserable for being too young that time to be able to rescue him somehow. Taking good care of one's parents while they're still alive, trying to understand them, that's all proof of love, wisdom and humanity. Long live our dear parents!!!...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤

Its true. Back then, we'd write letters over the summer. This song always brings back memories of being in school and the bittersweet "last day." Kids would go to camp or on vacation with the family, etc. so it was not unusual to not see a lot of classmates until school started in September - right after Labor Day. I remember sending and receiving a few summer letters with both boys and girls. It was innocent and sweet. Puppy stuff.

I was 11, and in love with a boy who went by my Grandparents garden, sitting in a bus, gazing at me from out the window. Needless to say we never met, but the song still has it's romantic impact to this very day ... decades later :o)

I like this song so sentimental. I used to dance like the girls in the background of the Singer. Those were grand times for me as I had my parents who solved every problem I could not handle. And had my kid Sister also who recently died. But I have thought although married and with two grown up songs I shall never forget Sister.

One of the very best performers I have ever witnessed. He is just as good live as he is recorded. It was a privilege to be able to work with him and know him behind the scenes too. Cool dude.

I saw Brian Hyland at Lil Darlin's in Florida. He was as cute as ever and had his little boy with him. Good memory.

I saw him perform and met him in 1962 when he toured the UK with Little Eva. This for me was his best record.

it turns out that this song has been around since 1962 and I'm curious to keep looking for 2021 when I'm 25 years old, I think this is a very historical work and can make us feel like we are in the middle ages 😊😊😊 greetings from Indonesia

It's actually been around since 1960! :) The first/original version of this song was by The Four Voices, two years before Brian Hyland's cover

This video really hit the mark for making me, once again, the teen who stood glued to the radio while Brian sang this song back in the day. Out of all the mega-hits that flooded the 60s, this one was among the very top that rang sweet and clear. Thanks for the post, it's been greatly appreciated.

They had "Go-Go" dancers in the back ground of most teen music shows. Being individual performers they would not have been able to slow dance so I suspect the producers had them do that. If you look closely, you'll see some couples slow dancing.
