Brian James Trailers Australia - 6m Car Trailer and 3.6m Tipper Trailer Review

A detailed unbiased review of our 2018 Brian James 6m x 3,500kg GVM Cargo Trailer and 3.6m x 3,500kg GVM Tipper.
We had these for 6 months now
These trailers are light weight at under 1,000kg Tare weight. You can carry 2,500kg on them.
They all have Alko Independant Suspension with the Alko mechanical braking system with a mechanical breakaway system.
No need for an electric brake system on your vehicle.
They have a low loading deck height with oodles of tiedown points and easy use drop down sides and removable upper panels.
You can order many various options or fit them later if desired.
They are such a diverse trailer.
Use them with drop down sides or remove them and use it as a full flat deck.
Add a winch or high sides, even ladder racks.
They are the perfect multi purpose trailer.
They tow extremely well loaded up. You can drop tyre air pressures down for long trips as they can be a rough ride with the recommended 80psi in the tyres.
We just leave them with higher pressures.

Thanks for such a comprehensive review, I’m convinced their big tipper is absolutely what I’ve been looking for. Saw one at a show this last week and was impressed by the fact it’s all-in-one. Literally I will be replacing three trailers with the one.

Excellent video there boss. Sincerely sorry to hear about the theft of your trailers. I hope you were fully insured. I was hit 3 different ways (car, on site & 3 vehicles) in total 7 times in 17 years. I'd also recommend trackers exclusively for trailers. Would be nice to see the perpetrators get caught. When you are in business and really OUT THERE you tend to get a lot of prying/jealous eyes. The best defense for this sort of thing off site of course is to have them parked and secured behind locked gates. Surveillance cameras are very affordable now and onsite I couldn't understand why other blokes bought their dogs to work. Now I know why. Glad you like your new trailers.

Thanks for your great review. I really like the utility of their design but as I do a lot of highway driving as well as bush driving on my farm, I am concerned about 1: non-standard rims/tyres, potentially obliging me to chase BJT and pay whatever they want to charge if I need replacement; 2: so many bolts to work their way loose; 3: so many clips and latches to check that they have been properly secured each time I use them or that they have not shaken loose while driving. Have these been concerns of yours? Thanks.

Hey there, I know it was 10 months ago but I have been researching trailers for about 5 months now. The trailers are top notch, however I would research the price and availability of the tyres and rims first. As for the many moving parts, you can always replace a lot of the nuts with lock nuts, locktite, drill the ends out and insert split pins too. Trailer maintenance is inevitable, but I know where you are coming from. Off road, I'd be looking for something with more height and flexible suspension as I have. The 14" Ford rim with 5 x nut stud pattern are one of the most common trailer rims in Australia FYI. Good Luck.
