Shame he’s been drinking again on this tour after all those years of abstinence.

Maybe true. But BJM is the last great 60s band. They are actually the only 60s band left. If there are any bands left from that era they are dusting with Lady Gaga to appeal to the wider audience which is the Kim Kardashian Audience Society. Which is what we BJM fans are against. Keep Music Evil.

@@ArthurKuntsler they are last great 60s band because they grew in the 60s. All the 60s band were born in the 40s playing in there 20s and 30s. These guys grew up in the coffee houses on Sunset Blvd where garage rock was exploding. They were literally handed down the torch. There is no band left connected to the 60s counter culture.

Something very strange happens every time they come to Melbourne. Has anyone noticed that? Is someone putting LSD in Anton’s Water? Every single time they come to Melbourne. Something bad happens and it’s always Melbourne.

I spoke with Anton at the Princess Theatre in Brisbane, and he was already worried about the Melbourne gig. He mentioned something about the audience throwing glasses at them in Melbourne at the Forum, particularly when his back was turned. Anton was very calm and relaxed when I spoke with him in Brissie. He also mentioned the problems he was having with Van. So I guess it all came to a head in Melbourne, which is typical of BJM and Anton. If you're a fan, that's expected and you get what you get. From sheer brilliance to catastrophe. We all love Anton for his brilliance as a song writer and musician, but we the audience also need to forgive misdemeaners. And I don't think it's too much either for him to ask the audience to shut up while the band is playing. No matter what happens, there's lots of love for Anton and his band here in Australia. Peace folks.

@@TC50730 but why does bad shit happen in Melbourne every time? Every year this happens at Melbourne exact same time. What is exactly going on there? My take is the crown has hidden intentions ready to cancel at the slightest thing they don’t like making things uneasy. Unlike in America where language is free people can say whatever they want and yet don’t take it to seriously. Something weird about Melbourne.

Thank you for that thoughtful and enlightening comment. You summed up Anton perfectly, from brilliance to catastrophe - I've followed -- and casually studied -- Anton and BJM for years. He keeps me interested and curious. I agree with everything you said - But one issue was overlooked: At Melbourne, he was slurring, stumbling drunk -- And he's an alcoholic who had been sober more than 14 years. This "world" tour has been a disaster, as I've followed it online around the continents-- with Anton looking thinner and thinner and more outlandish than ever, with those yellow Jeffrey Dahmar sunglasses and tourist hat At Levitation, he felt thin enough to give interviews shirtless, showing off his new svelte figure - thanks to hard drinking and little eating. I have lot of love for Anton too As an artist, he's the only one who's ever made me cry, and I've heard about all of them at some point in my 64 years. But more important, as recovering alcoholic, I respect how he turned his life around and became more successful. I love his mantra: Never Give Up. Now it's time for him to make good on it. @@TC50730

I was at the Sydney show. Like Melbourne, woke bogans (the worst type of bogan) were needling the band from the get go. Not surprising that the band flipped out after said bogans thew bottles at them. Shameful behaviour from so called fans.

Brisbane was a great show I went to. If Australian audiences continue to behave like that, international bands are going to think twice about coming to Australia. That's not what we want...

I'll repeat what you said, "Shameful behaviour from so called fans." It's not Anton or the band to blame for the security issues which eventuated in Melbourne, etc. it's the dim sim audience. If I was him, I'd be getting frustrated and fed up with it all too. And drinking to cope.

For the audience? I'd recommend it for Perth, Sydney, Melbourne, Byron. What gives you the audience the right to interfere with a touring band on any level. You know already it's not going to be smooth sailing with BJM.

@@TC50730 Haha no. The guys sound beyond drunk and I heard they maybe played 5 songs over the course of 2 hours with a load of arguing and bad vibes toward each other and the audience. Saw them do this a couple times over 20 years ago, I was at a few of those shows back in the day when they were in LA. I saw some of that stuff that ended up in DIG! in person and hung out with a few of the guys as well. I witnessed that behind the scenes dynamic up close. When those guys got along the shows were magic, but when the chemical balance was off, it was just a sad mess for those of us there for the music. Eventually people started showing up just for the fireworks and would encourage or instigate shit by throwing things at the band which was just as lame. I've seen this episode before and I hope Anton gets help, alcoholism is a beast.

@@Alphastare23 Thank you for your comment. Yes we've all seen live melt down scenes over the last 30 years. And there's copious amounts of information about addicitions. It couldn't be easy getting a new band together for the Australian tour, and with Joels departure. Remember these people are a long way away from their friends and family back in America. Or any other support. 7 people on stage is a lot.... Appreciate what you get Australia. Good bad or ugly. 7 people on stage is a lot.

@@Alphastare23 Drunk or not, it's fairly similar to the Jim Morrison story. Give this poet and innovator some room to create without criticisms. That's what the general public or audience doesn't understand, and fans want. We are all very lucky to have Anton at the helm of whatever's next.
