How cool is it that Brian agreed to take time to do this? He's 3 years shy of turning 80, still recovering from a stroke and has to navigate a schedule that would kill a man 50 years younger than him but he STILL makes time for his fans, I have nothing but love and respect for this man, 50 years of Queen and 60 years of the Red Special and still going strong, long live Queen!!! ❤👑

What an absolute legend and a gentleman to take the time to give something back to his fans and followers. I have loved Queen from the age of 8 and now at 46 my children also love their music. I was stewarding at a Bon Jovi concert at Wembley Arena on the New Jersey tour and turned around to see Brian May come walking towards me, heading to his seat! I told him that the reason I ever thought of picking up a guitar was because of him, which is absolutely true. I asked for his autograph but neither of us had a pen. I asked him if I minded waiting while I tried to ask for one. Nigh on 10 minutes later I returned and there he was patiently waiting. I was blown away at his kindness and will never forget that moment.

Okay some here seem to think it's no big deal he attended this event, that anyone would do it. To me it's pretty big deal that he did this so soon after his stroke. But that's not even the point. I really think he attended this event specially because these fans are clearly very dedicated and not just fans of him as a person or Queen but actually interested in music and enthusiasts of the Red special guitar. Like he said this feels like a real community. He probably would not have attended any event, so the organizers should feel honored imo.
@dsgb
@dsgb 4 күн бұрын
@teijaflink2226 All true. He enjoyed himself. Apparently there was a Queen Fan Club convention on the same day and some members expressed disappointment that Brian chose to attend the 2024 U.K. Red Special Meet-up instead of the QFC convention. I don't think they realised how much effort Jon Underhill put in behind the scenes over many months to persuade Brian to attend or that we have held the event close to Allerton Hill and Pete Malandrone's house in Reading to make it easy for either of them to just 'pop in'.

So maybe sometime in the future this will be possible. 🤞I joined the queen fan club back in 1975 and always been fascinated with the guitar and now have my red special plans draught out. Wow, what an amazing event, with one of the world's Greatest Guitarists! The first vinyl that I ever bought, with my first pay packet, was Queen - Greatest Hits - hard to believe that was 1981. My Dad taught me guitar and as a hobbyist Luthier, built several guitars for me. Despite being 84 years old, he's still working as a guitar Tech, for a local music store. The passion lives on. Stay strong and keep on rocking Brian 💪🎸🤘

But to have Brian as the guest? Unforgettable for everyone there. The RS community is such a positive group; how one man and his unique guitar generates so much love, affection and respect is a beautiful thing. Thank you for filming this event. @@dsgb yes, the dark, naughty years of South Africa (not that it’s any better now). Queen were put on a “black list”, not for long. They refused to get involved in politics. There were a number of shows cancelled, due to Freddy getting laryngitis. A fairly common occurrence when travelling from Europe to SA. As it turned out, the tickets I had bought coincided with the first show post Freddie’s recovery. Which brought with it a couple of interesting “mistakes”. So I was extremely fortunate on all counts.
