Brian May's Surprise Guest Appearance & Performance at The Red Special Guitar UK Meet-up 05/10/2024

On Saturday 5th October 2024, I attended the annual UK Red Special guitar meet-up in Reading.
I am one of the organisers of the event but only an hour before his arrival, did we know for definite, he was attending.
At 2pm, it was announced that Sir Brian May was attending and walked through the door, to a standing ovation.
He chatted for over an hour or so, answering questions, took the time the meet people individually and did a surprise performance for us all through a replica guitar rig. I feel very privileged that the rig used was mine. It was an amazing feeling and experience to be within an arms length of Sir Brian May playing his original home-made RS through my rig, a mind blowing moment.
Thank you Sir Brian, it really did make my day. I will never forget this moment.

That had to be a great day. We were able to meet with a group of people learning about the Red Special. Plus, got to enjoy Sir Brian play a few on the RS. . Boy he missed playing but he is listening to his doctor. We want you around for some more time & well enough to continue playing .

So he'll go to that but NOT to the official fan club convention that was held on the same day. 37 of them so far and he still hasn't been to any. Really pleased for the folks who attended the Red Special Day, especially that kid who got to play drums with his guitar hero, but to the rest of us who go to Queen convention each year, it feels like a kick in the teeth. Sorry.
