Honestly, the fact that you've stuck with making vids for 10 years is pretty incredible! I always find it charming when a creator shows growth in their presentation, comfort with being on camera, and vid quality- it feels more human and honest. Aaaaaaand I don't need yet another pen, but now I'm curious about the Pilot Custom 74. Given you enjoy trying multiple pens constantly, it speaks highly of it that you have an enduring favorite.

Truthfully I think that the homemade quality of your videos and more importantly your authentic Brian and Rachel videos made us Goulet supporters become invested in your family and company. Think of all the KZbin people you plowed the road for. Glad you were not too judgmental on the Brian of the past. 😁✍️🌻

Love this video - having the ability to go back in time and glean insight on the details of your past life is a gift. Perhaps what you might say to your 10 year ago self is "I'm from the future to tell you that you're still gonna love this pen 10 years from now...."
@andrewcamacho40923 жыл бұрын
I looked back at my order history and found the date I ordered this pen: December 15, 2015. It is the same as Brian's (blue with a medium nib). I have it inked up now with Pilot blue. It is still one of the best writers and most reliable pens in my collection. Brian's video was one of the factors I used to select this pen and others over the years. Thanks for all the informative and entertaining videos!

I love this! The first thing I noticed is how different the sound is with the better mic you are using now. At times, it sounds like a different person because none of the bass is there. Congrats to the Goulet Pen Family on 10 years of success! Brian's video of the Karas Kustoms Ink, (when he flung it across the parking lot!) sold me on not only buying 3 Inks, but I now own 1 Decograph, 2 Fountain K's, too many Render K Mini's, 1 Starliner XL, & some Rollerballs! Your Excellent Videos continue to help me find pens I "Need"! Thanks also for the PenCast! Watching them helps to educate me on the myriad terms & knowledge I'm still a newbie on! I remember that video and it made me want a Custom 74, although it took me a few years to buy my first one. That was fun! You've always known how to look straight into the camera lens, though. Did you train yourself to do that? It doesn't come naturally for most people. You have gigantic hands! I remember always hoping for Rachel to make an appearance (I started following Goulet in 2016/2017) so that I could see how pens looked in her hands, which are the same size as mine.

I love this idea for videos and would like to see more! It's 3am and I am in a recliner with my newborn as Goulet Pens plays on the tv, so the video that is auto playing right after I watched this one is "Q&A 169". I'm immediately intrigued by "one pen I'd never recommend to anyone". I'm curious to see how Brian's "never play favorites" attitude might have been different in 2017. Baby Devon has no trouble sleeping with Brian's voice in the background which is fantastic.

Not mentioned on this video, but I love that this pen does not seem to dry out. I've had it filled with J Herbin Lie de The for at least six months, using it only occasionally, and it still immediately writes-- no shaking, tapping, or having to write dry to get it flowing... nothing! The only pen I've got that performs like that.

This was actually great to watch for reasons completely unrelated to the pen. I’ve been an entertainer for 23 years, and going back and critiquing myself on recordings from years past always leads to some cringe-worthy moments. The years of experience have served you well, and you look as comfortable as an on-camera personality as you are running your day-to-day. I don’t know that there’s a huge calling for this as an ongoing video concept, but as someone who discovered your business and KZbin channel later in your career, it’s fun to see the growth! And I laughed every time you cringed at yourself, because I do that to myself all the time 🤣

Brian your videos were, essentialy, brilliant, excellent! As a matter of fact, more, even too much, technology, better lightning or backgrounds, a better camera, are not essential... Those early videos showed an honest review or explanation in a very natural way. These first videos are part of your story and I might say of our story. They were the reason why You made the difference and lifted-off as a Company! Write on!

Thanks for the videos. I wish I had started using a fountain pen when I was young. I wonder if you have a program for schools to introduce young people to fountain pens? I love writing but I have very bad hand writing. I would write with a mechanical pencil but hated to see my own hand writing. I found upon using a fountain pen that I had a change of mind. It was as if I was Clark Kent changing into my superman suit. Somehow, I began to cared more and tried harder to maintain good handwriting. From time to time i would have writers block when using a word processor. I am not intimidated by a pen and paper as I am when using a word processor. There seems to be less between my thoughts and the paper when using pen and ink.

You keep saying that you don’t know a lot about fountain pens, but yet you already sold them. When and why did you decide you where going to sell fountain pens?
@mlsmal3 жыл бұрын
So at that point in time if I remember correctly Goulet Pens had already transitioned away from being about selling wooden pens Brian made but they weren’t stocking many pens at all. They were mostly an ink and I think by this time they’d also started selling paper shop. It actually took a lot of time for the higher end pen stuff to come (it happened in a 2 year period where I was on pen hiatus mostly).
