My friend's kids introduced us to his comedy in '96. My whole family and theirs listened to that whole hour something routine until we had memorized every word. To this day my family will still recite parts of it depending on the conversation. Every time my daughter leave the house, we do the whole "Take Luck" routine as she's walking out the door and all to way to her car. "Sure to see her again" I say from the house as she pulls out of the driveway

Regan is one of my all time favorite comedians. This is a brilliant example of how a comic sits on an idea for a while discovering over time how one joke relevant to the idea opens doors for other nested jokes. By the time the different avenues have percolated, he then pieces them together in a seamless tapestry for a 5 minute segment. We see the end result, but man I’d love to see his notepad.

While in the end, he just wrote the book on doing a self contained bit on OCD. What the?? This was not portrayed accurately at all.
@BioHazard6344 жыл бұрын
@@SavanaSue12 already replied elsewhere but want to say more. The whole book organizing bit #1 I think is just funny, but also shows, albeit in a comedic manner, the complexity of different sufferers' rituals. It's a very individual thing. Again, on the survey part, he mentions "nagging feeling" after answering the question. Whether it be checking back on an answer or rereading a paragraph over and over again fearing you missed something, or just making sure the door is closed time and time again, I feel that is very relatable. Again though, it is a comedy bit!

BioHazard634 I'll just comment everywhere too! I can see what you're saying and again I think the most offensive part to me was how he mocked the term "suffer from OCD" and how physical pain trumps all when it fact I'm sure you and my fiance would prefer physical pain to the pain and agony of a mental illness 24/7. I think that opener just turned me off to this bit as I take it personally to defend anyone with OCD because great suffering does occur. I am glad he pointed out some truths of OCD and hopefully it will encourage some to really research OCD and find out how real and debilitating it can be for those suffering from it. Maybe it'll spark some compassion.

@@SavanaSue12 yes and I feel as though I skipped right over that and gave him a pass when I shouldn't have. I think it was stupid and distasteful, but now I'm realizing that not only was it that, but it just plain wasn't funny. It was almost like a humorless dig.
