I just saw him live and this is the realest experience. He did an entire new show and it was absolutely genius. I was stunned how brilliant it was. It hurt me how many people in the theater didn’t realize and how the jokes went over their heads. He’s truly a comedians comic. Insanely funny. A master at work.

My friend's kids introduced us to his comedy in '96. My whole family and theirs listened to that whole hour something routine until we had memorized every word. To this day my family will still recite parts of it depending on the conversation. Every time my daughter leave the house, we do the whole "Take Luck" routine as she's walking out the door and all to way to her car. "Sure to see her again" I say from the house as she pulls out of the driveway

Regan is one of my all time favorite comedians. This is a brilliant example of how a comic sits on an idea for a while discovering over time how one joke relevant to the idea opens doors for other nested jokes. By the time the different avenues have percolated, he then pieces them together in a seamless tapestry for a 5 minute segment. We see the end result, but man I’d love to see his notepad.

🤣 “So I decided to buy a book about it. I got to get to the bottom of it somehow, right?” 🤣 Next level thinking right from the top, and continued on to the bottom. Absolutely brilliant comedy. Circling back again, using the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shelves as themes for the beginning, middle, and end in his search for the answer. While in the end, he just wrote the book on doing a self contained bit on OCD. I wonder how long he obsessed about closing that loop in just the right order, rofl! 🤣 PS: Yes I checked to make sure the stove was off. Now that you bring it up, I may have some O.C.Tendendacies too, and Thanksgiving was just yesterday after all.

Saw him live in East Texas 8 years ago. I kept falling out of my seat laughing. His best joke of all time is about the guy on every TV show that just meets a woman and asks her out. He says, "I'll pick you up at 8". But Brian Regan says how does the guy know where the woman lives? So he pretends like he's the woman trying to give the guy directions. Like the most complicated long directions. It's hilarious! He's so brilliant and doesn't have to be dirty to be funny. A true legend in comedy! Sorry such a long post.

This was really good. Not only did he make a very funny and clever bit, he also acknowledged that OCD is misunderstood and misrepresented and actually portrayed it more accurately, and comically, which for someone with OCD is very refreshing.

@@SavanaSue12 already replied elsewhere but want to say more. The whole book organizing bit #1 I think is just funny, but also shows, albeit in a comedic manner, the complexity of different sufferers' rituals. It's a very individual thing. Again, on the survey part, he mentions "nagging feeling" after answering the question. Whether it be checking back on an answer or rereading a paragraph over and over again fearing you missed something, or just making sure the door is closed time and time again, I feel that is very relatable. Again though, it is a comedy bit!

@@SavanaSue12 sorry one more! All I said here was that he acknowledged that its misunderstood, which boy is it, and that he portrayed it MORE accurately. But yeah as I've said elsewhere im starting to rethink my original comments.

BioHazard634 I'll just comment everywhere too! I can see what you're saying and again I think the most offensive part to me was how he mocked the term "suffer from OCD" and how physical pain trumps all when it fact I'm sure you and my fiance would prefer physical pain to the pain and agony of a mental illness 24/7. I think that opener just turned me off to this bit as I take it personally to defend anyone with OCD because great suffering does occur. I am glad he pointed out some truths of OCD and hopefully it will encourage some to really research OCD and find out how real and debilitating it can be for those suffering from it. Maybe it'll spark some compassion.

@@SavanaSue12 yes and I feel as though I skipped right over that and gave him a pass when I shouldn't have. I think it was stupid and distasteful, but now I'm realizing that not only was it that, but it just plain wasn't funny. It was almost like a humorless dig.

yea this was awful. He made a name with his good stuff and he's lost it, but trying to make more money. It hurts to see this. I literally let out a "ooohhhh" at the end. Like THAT was the punchline? Ouch

I don’t mind profanity and adult topics in comedy at all. It can be pretty funny. But it’s even more impressive to me when a person can be this funny without any of that at all.
