A behind-the-scenes look at "Brian's Song" (1971), one of the best guy-cry movies ever made. It was literally a watershed event when ABC aired this buddy movie. Grown men failed to blink back tears. Half of all television sets in America were tuned to "Brian's Song", the Peabody and Emmy Award-winning made-for-TV film about the unlikely friendship between Chicago Bears' teammates Brian Piccolo and Gayle Sayers. It's held up very well. Still brings a tear or two.
The movie starred James Caan, Billy Dee Williams and Jack Warden, and was directed by Buzz Kulik and written by William Blinn. Based on the book "I Am Third" by Gale Sayers and Al Silverman. Music by Michel Legrand. This retrospective was produced and edited by Tom Barry.
