I've always liked the movie. After the structured battle between Loki and the Avengers, Tony's bound to have PTSD, and nothing else was happening till the movie, but tonys had a lot of experiences where he was ill prepared. So he naturally prepares for a doomsday. But here's the kicker though: since it was peace before another battle, he was restless and on edge. The whole uneasiness and a lack of direction went well with the story. This movie was all about Tony truly accepting what he said at the end of the first movie. That HE is the Iron Man, not the suits.

You sir are a genius, when I was younger I use to obsessed with Iron man, and I remember seeing this movie in theaters. I use to constantly hum this theme, tho I didn't pick up on some of the sounds made with various instruments in the back ground, but after listening to this song again I've noticed things like the sorta metal banging I'm not sure what instruments were used for that, but it sounded kinda like a hammer hitting metal which works perfectly for the character Tony Stark/Iron man. There were so many other things i noticed in the song i'm not mentioning, or didn't notice, but god this is awesome.

Because they keep changing composers between the solo sequels. With each new composer, the new composer takes most of what their predecessor did and overwrites it with his music. Iron Man has 3 different themes because he had 3 composers. Thor has 2 themes because he had two composers. Music continuity is very important when establishing a cinematic universe.

I realised today I had no memory of the Iron Man movie soundtracks at all, so decided to revisit all three main themes here. Surprisingly, this was the one that not only gave me an "oh yeah, I do remember that now!" feel, but proper goosebumps as well. Easily the best Iron Man theme of the three, IMO, but it's a real shame they never seemed to settle on one for the three films but changed it each time. On the other hand, the first movie (forgettable though I find the score) is IMO by far the best IM film, and the only one I'd consider a legitimately great movie. The other two have their moments, but are mostly enjoyable because of RDJ's performance.
