The best LB in the 90s and early 2000s was Ray Lewis, as a dolphins fan we can agree on this... if I was ranking them I would put ray at 1 but after that there are a few names like urlacher brooks and Seau but I promise you like urlacher said Thomas is right there and definitely has a strong argument for top 5

Believe it or not he actually took speech lessons for awhile before he gave his HOF speech. Doesn't like public speaking and said he always spoke very fast which he still kinda does. But Pat seems to bring the best out of these types on his show like Rodgers, Brock, Urlacher.

Im a year late to share but i share your sentiment. Im 37 years old so my bears fandom grew into diehard during the urlacher years. I was in jr high when they drafted him and mid 20s by the end. I get the tingles watching old highlights. Im sad that he never got the ring. Not because i wanted the superbowl, even though i did. But mostly because he deserved a superbowl to put the cherry on a legendary career.

Urlacher is a stand up guy whose former teammates and organization criticized for his insensitive remarks. His former teammate Matt Forte who is highly respected said: “The comment [Urlacher] posted is void of empathy, compassion, wisdom and coherence,” Forte wrote. “But full of pride and ignorance! I pray for those who have been blinded by their wealth, privilege and earthly fame that breeds arrogance in their hearts. And those who refuse to acknowledge racism and injustice but instead choose to place their energy into justifying it by quickly judging the victim’s life as if they themselves are more valuable because their sins are different or weren’t caught by man. But God sees all.”

I was living in Las Cruces and went to go watch Urlacher play UTEP, went just to watch him. This dude would not come off the field , I am talking kick of return ,kick off,,punt team and punt return , . He scored a touchdown that game as a tight end. This one play New Mexico punted the ball to UTEP the punt returner came around towards the sidelines o was sitting around the 45 yard ,I never saw Urlacher as I was watching the returner .. I feel like i am over exaggerating, cause still to this day did I really just see that. He hit the punt returner so hard the guy flew past the benches and to the cement where we sit . UTEP fans and everybody there were just in awe I remember telling a UTEP fan that'd Urlacher that dudes go to the pros . New Mexico we don't have much ,Now with the payers being played it's good they do deserve it. The down side of that is its they will never be a UNM , UTEP, NMSU , Colorado St. ,teams that just don't have the money to compete for the top Players . Even the hope for that special year is gone.

I would love to see Urlacher put together his own defensive scheme, and get to a coaching staff as a LB coach. Then eventually work his way up to a DC with his own defensive playbook. This guy played surrogate safety in a 3-3-5 while in college. Then came to the NFL and started briefly as a SAM and moved to the MIKE LB in an attacking 4-3 downhill scheme and killed it. Then under Lovie in a 4-3 TAMPA2 played a significantly different roll as a coverage MIKE LB and killed it. He was one of the brightest defensive minds to ever play. I always wonder what that 1985 defense would have been like with Urlacher in the middle of a defense that would have had 8 pro bowlers surrounding him. Urlacher was excellent at calling out the defensive plays that put the players around him in positions to succeed. I know he's said he wouldn't care for coaching but I STRONGLY believe he could become one HELL of a Defensive Coordinator.
